Quick News

Well, since it hasn't been posted yet, and a few people may like to know.

Elite Dangerous is coming to PS4, there's a new trailer out and it has a bunch of spoilers and teasers in it for the new content coming in 2.3 as well.

A little late but Diablo 3 is getting a DX11 64Bit upgrade with 8xAA and SSAO in the upcoming 2.4.3 patch :)

It is nice to see even older games getting a significant update like this.

This will be great for those with high-end PCs.

Looking forward to the upgrade, the commanders stuff looks awesome.

I really want to get into this game over christmas. I imagine the new Star Wars will get me into a space game binge again.

Facebook has split their daughter company Oculus into two divisions. Rumors are fear that Oculus will not be the leading VR company due to the popularity of the HTC Vive.

Not trying to kick up old dirt from another post that got heated, but this was an interesting read from our friend at Kit guru

30degree temp drop at 5Ghz after replacing Intel TIM. If you check the anantech user he shows a before and after. 96C with Intel TIM, 66 with LM.

Now what I am interested in is not the TIM usage even though its bad. But the overclock was a nice one. I have never managed a 5GHz ever since my Sandy Bridge days.

Maybe Intel changed Tim so they wouldn't give us another holy grail of cpu's like the Sandy Bridge

This video talks about an article by Fudzilla (here) saying that Vega is going to cater to the lower end alongside the higher-end. I personally did not expect this as it would uproot their budding Polaris range, but maybe it's going to be necessary if AMD want to regain their fair share of the GPU consumer market.

Vega will include GDDR5 (and possibly GDDR5X) as well as HBM2, meaning the main issue with the Fury lineup—price—could be eliminated. We could see a Vega 1070 and 1080 competitor with GDDR5(X) that costs significantly less. Then there would be HBM2 variants that would be even more powerful and advanced, but considerably more expensive.

Told you. I called it;)
The Vega we saw isn't it's best variation:)

I'm not holding my breath for it to be honest, I was let down with the 290X and then with the Fury X.

The game demo AMD had running Battlefront at 4K was probably their top end card.

Hope I'm wrong though as we severely need competition at the high end.

Both were good cards.. especially the 290x Lightning. Loved them both tbh, more than capable cards. I really doubt the one we saw was the top end card. They wouldn't reveal there hand before Nvidia releases the 1080ti, otherwise Nvidia would see it and release asap so they get the hype and more favorable review matchups.

We'll know soon enough, I'm staying pessimistic though so if it turns out to be a monster I'll be nicely surprised ^_^

Let's face it we are all hoping AMD will release a titan killer or at least a 1080ti killer, but have a serious doubt they will even beat a 1080

I really, really hope so! :D I'd really like more than 1080 performance in Ashes of the Singularity.

What are you basing that doubt on exactly? Beating a 1080 should not be that hard. In DX12 a Fury X can match a 1070.

290X ended up being a really good card when done right. As NBD said, the MSI Lightning version has been a perennial favourite for three years. At launch the 780ti usually topped the 290X—though it was a lot more expensive. But looking at Gamers Nexus recent 780ti retest, the 780ti is only slightly more powerful than a 1050ti in new games. The 290X absolutely destroys it. This is largely down to nVidia and their drivers, but it shows how long the 290X has lasted.

True that but most games and most game devs are still using DX11 and that is what will win peoples money as AMD do fall behind in that area.

In 1080P DX11 on Battlefield 1 Ultra settings a 1070 is about 39FPS faster on average and 33FPS faster at 1440P Ultra settings, Those are the numbers people will look at and make a buying decision from.
