Quick disconnects

Hi All =]

Would just like to know peoples oppinions on quick disconnects in loops.

The only thing thats detering me is that they can be ugly, but if placed well I guess they can work!

I try to avoid them at all costs mostly however i have been impressed with the Koolance ones, they maintain almost all of the flow and are damn near perfect at stopping spillage at most you could possibly get a half a drop if your lucky

Agree. Koolance seem to be the ones with the best reviews, they don't leak much at all on disconnect but I haven't tried any myself...
 
They got even better ones now

I have 4 of them in my loop running a 4670k and a GTX 780 all with a ddc pump powering it all...

I think they're expensive and unnecessary to be honest. Most look pretty ugly because of how bulky they are, so if you use them I'd want to make sure you have somewhere to hide them out of sight.

Do you think you'll need to be removing any components often, because for the most part they just get left once it's finished. If you will be fiddling a lot they will be handy and save you money in coolant, but I've personally never felt any need to have them.
 
Quick disconnects.

I do change out graphic cards quite often 3 times with this build so far (6970 to gtx670 to gtx780 to gtx780 sli if I can find a good deal). And I agree with trying to hide them but the fact that I can pull my loop completely apart and put it back together is something that is just a huge time saver for me. I'm someone without much room work with and not having coolant and hoses everywhere is a god send (other than initial install). My motherboard is also setup so when I buy in to next gen stuff all I do is swap the CPU water block and I'm set.
 
After taking an old loop apart today with no disconnects in it, I don't have a problem putting six quick disconnects in the system I am building now.
 
There not to bad when it comes to cleaning. Most of the time the coolant is still good but the radiators are clogged with dust and having the flexibility to remove them completely to clean is great. The set up I have now is just 8 to 12 screws to remove a radiator and to rinse it out on the outside. This gets the du at completely out and keep your system running like new longer.
 
I have 2 from a rig a buy to dismantle for parts, i dont know what make they are but i decided not to use them as they seemed very restrictive, even when you blow air though them ...so somthing to look out for when buying
 
Like I said there is some good manufactures and bad ones. I have 4 pairs of quick disconnects 2 60mm radiators and cpu and GPU block powered only by a ddc pump. The fitting do restrict flow but as long as there is sufficient flow it will not matter much. I had the Koolance bay reservoir/pump with the temp probes (very loud). The built in pump control allowed me to vary the flow and it made ~3°c of difference from 100% to 25% pump speed.
 
To be honest, I would only use them if I was actively planning an upgrade that falls outside my cleaning schedule.

Reason is so that implementation of the upgrade can be done quickly and with minimal fuss.

Otherwise they are too ugly for my liking.
