QPI/Dram Voltage

Hey Guys,

There are ALOT of threads out there regarding QPI volts.

I have recetly upgraded my system to:

Rampage 3 Extreme

i7 920 D0

2000Mhz Dom Gt's 8-9-8-24

Custom W/C (EK-supreme)

1250W Coolermaster PSU

Now my CPU is stable at 21X190 with 1.35 qpi but that makes my RAM run at 1904 mhz

If I try 21X200 with 1.35 it wont boot

Now if i run my ram at 1600mhz and 21X200 with 1.35 qpi then it boots

So can I ramp up my qpi to like 1.5 to get my ram to run at 21x200 and ram at 2000mhz is this safe?

Oh and the reason im only useing 21X is coz my 20X isnt stable

Thanks Guys

hi m8 yeh if you wont your ram to run @ 2000mhz you will need to up the qpi try going with 200x20 manually set your ram to 2005 ram timings 8-9-8-24 set your vcore voltage to 1.275 n set the qpi you may need as much as 1.55 but try it @ 1.475 see if it boots these settings work for me but as you may well know all componaents are differant if you get stable @ 200 x 20 up the multi to 21 you sould have no problems tbh

you may need a little more on vcore voltage but the aim is to keep it as low as possible seeing you have w\c this souldnt be a problem to you either

Hi there

I will try settings when I get home

My CPU is not too stable with 20x multiplier but like 21x?

I am gonna try 21X200 and ram at 2005Mhz with 8-9-8-24 2N

I was worried that by setting QPI too high I will shorten the life of my components drastically?

Oh and thanks for taking time out of your day to a help a noob

Thanks a mil, will let you guys no what happens

ive been running my i7 950 @ 100% load folding@home n ive upped the qpi to 1.55 its been running on these settings for days with no ill effects apart from the obvious heat you will find upping the qpi will help with the stability if you have a look around on the forums theres loads of tips n help there

ive also read that the odd multipliers 19, 21 seem to overclock better but if you was ask ttl he would advise you to go 200x20 as he did me setting everything up manually is also important once you get used to the bios it will be easy

good luck

Thanks Tom

At what stage is QPI to high?

If I run 20 X 200 with say +-1.3vcore (My chip will need it) and +- 1.5 qpi with RAM at 2005Mhz will this let my rig run for as long as if i went with 1600Mhz for RAM speed? If so how long?

Like if its a day then ill run it 2005Mhz no prob but if its a month or two I will think twice

Hey Guys,

A update quick, I set my multiplier to 20 and BCLK to 200 and upped my qpi to 1.5v and set my ram at 2005Mhz

I have been playing cod for about an hour and no bsod but when I run prime it bsods

I am using the blinded setting, is that correct or should I use the Small FFT's?

Hey guys,

After a loooooooooooooong time of getting my rig just right and finding the best volts/clock raito I think I found it.

My only worrie is that my QPI/DRAM is too high, I have had a load of people tell me this :/

Here are my settings:

BLCK: 200

Multi: 21

RAM 2005Mhz (8-9-8-24-2N)

Vcore: 1.35

LLC: Fully enabled

PLL: 1.8

QPI/DRAM: 1.5125 (with vdroop it should be about 1.49 odd)

RAM: 1.65

Everything else is on auto besides the stuff in the CPU tab

This 4.2Ghz is 24 hours of blended and small fft's prime stable

Here is CPU-Z Validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1799637
