Q6600 G0 or e8200

Basically as per title.

I don't really want to have to spend the extra cash on a q6600 unless it would be a much better processor.

I Intend to. I've got a pretty big watercooling set-up too.

Its going to have 4Gb's of RAM DDR-800C4 to run with too.

IMO, it would be a better choice to go with an E8400 or a Xeon E3110 (same exact CPU as the E8400 but rebranded and often slightly cheaper.) They're still cheaper than the Q6600 but perform better and overclock like there's no tomorrow.

The E8200 does not overclock very well.

The 8400 will prob clock to 4ghz stable. Games will benefit.

The q6600 will prob clock to 3.6ish. Encoding/decoding/photoshop etc will benefit, oh and benchmarks.

Depends what you want from your rig...

If you do get the 45nm just be careful with the voltage. 1.45v MAX, peeps treating them like 65nm and banging 1.55v through them just to see how they clock/bench soon discovered their once stable OC was unstable, needing more voltage for the same OC. Rapido degridation.

If youve got water, the q6600 will hit 4ghz if you give it enough volts :)

although thats risky and its hotter running...

Personally, id go for q6600 but its depends on what you want

You can get the E8400 to 4GHz stable easily by setting it to 445*9 at ~1.35v.

Nothing is guaranteed mate. You SHOULD get 4ghz, maybe a little more but you might not... I have seen plenty at 4ghz though...
