Q6600 @ 3.6

Just thought I would ask here :).

Since I will be overclocking my Q6600 to around 3.6, I was wondering what heatsink anyone would recommend. I will investigate in water after new years and such, just need a temp heatsink.

The GFX card 4870 never arrived today :(, money was only taken out this afternoon though, so tomorrow morning :D.

Anyways what heatsink guys?:).

i do not have a lot of experience with aftermarket heatsinks, but here's a shortlist of the coolers I'm hearing about:

- Scythe infinity

- Thermalright ultra 120 extreme (TRUE)

- Noctua U12P. Ordered the socket 1366 version of it myself, should be arriving by the end of this week.

Aint that a tad bit hot?:D.

I was wondering if there was any way of getting it at around 39-50c load?

Would this be a stupid temp?

Thanks :)

For air, its not bad. Thats using coretemp, real temp is around 10 degs less, and Im using fairly quiet fans...

The Xigmatek S1283 is not bad at all, perhaps second to the Thermalright Ultra Extreme. Best of all it can be had for around £25.

ive got mine under the true black beast.......which is quiet expensive but delivers extreme overclocking and my temps at 3.6ghz are Idle 24/27/23/28

load 44/50/43/48, this is with one 120 antec tri cool at lowest speed

Just another post, gonna purchase one of these for the mean time until I get my case after Christmas. Which one shall I get for overclocking @ 3.6ghz.

Wanting the best heatsink, price should be around £30-£60.

I have seen these.

  1. Noctua NH-U12P
  2. coolermaster Z600
  3. Thermalright TRUE Black 120

All of which are meant to be really good heatsinks.

Anyone chose the right one for me?:).

Thanks.

I can personally recommend the Noctua U12P :) I have the Se1366 on my core i7 920, keeps it just below 60 at 1.264v under load.

Note that the special edition has two fans, so cooling performance with a 'normal' skt775 kit will probably be slightly less.

Cool would you mind linking me to a place to purchase from?:).

Thanks

Hmmm I do not know about british retailers, but I bought it at HighFlow, a dutch cooling specialised etailer:

Both the U12P and the U12P Se1366 are listed here, although shipping would probably get the total price >60 pounds. Doesn't scan or one of the other retailers have them?

If they do not, you could always email highflow to ask for the shipping fee.
