Now this may come across as a noob question but i would like an answer. Also this is sort of a GPU question. This is in regards to my 6990.
I have a BFG1000w PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702021&Tpk=bfg%201000 and it is awesome. Currently i am using a 5870 lightning which uses dual 8pin to run. I am not very knowledgeable on PSUs, i just buy the more expensive one with enough watts from a reputable company. From my lack of knowledge, i know that an 8pin can deliver 150w of power while a 6pin is 75w of power. I am using two 6 to 8 pin adapters to power my 5870 lightning. The 6990 also uses dual 8pin.
My questions are:
what; if any problem is there when using adapters like this?
Will i be able to run my 6990 using two 6 to 8 pin adapters like i am using now?
Are there any hazards, to either me, PSU, GPU, or any other computer parts?
also my PSU is modular so i have a few connectors that i assume are 8pin. They are 6+2pin connectors. is this a true 8pin connector or is this the same as a 6 to 8 pin adapter?
