PSU ripple?

I have had this power supply ( a cool master silent pro M 850w ) for four years now , and wanting to keep it for my next build that i am going to do. I did a quick review seeing if there are any bad points. I have seen nothing bad so far but thought might need to look out for something. Reviews are great apart from a high ripple on the 12v but not outside atx specification . What does this mean and would it be worth upgrading for my next build. Do i want to replace it as coming to end of five year warranty?

I am also wanting to do cable brading as well on my next build, i have never done this before i am able to do this even if half of them are flat black?

If you're going for max overclocks, a little extra ripple can limit you some. For more mainstream use its not really gonna hurt anything.

As for upgrading, I generally upgrade my PSU ever 3 or 4 years. Partly because it's nice to have a nice fresh new PSU every so often and also because I just love buying new toys as much as I can. However lots of people keep their PSU's for many years running them til they give up the ghost. Nothing wrong with that either cause it saves you a lot of cash. Up to you really. I'd say upgrade cause 5 years is getting a little long in the tooth for PSU's and it's always fun to have a shiny new toy. My PSU is over 4 years old and I've got a EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750 on it's way now to retire it.

I always go by 'If it aint broken DONT TOUCH IT' just get have a new one ready when your CM kicks the bucket. God knows how many times I decided to open up my laptop to clean, only have to it on the verge of destruction.

OR

If you dont want to wait for it to die, at least keep it till the warranty finishes, then if it breaks down you get a free PSU Though it my be a refurb model.

Also as stated before, you dont really have to worry about the ripple, since as you said it is still within the standards, its not great but certainly not the worst. Now the sleaving part perhaps try to live with it as is till it goes?
