PSU Idea

I was looking at my case and thought it would be great if they made a PSU where the when the fan is aimed up via Tom style, the modular plugs were on the side of the power supply aimed toward the back side of the MB tray. This could only work with certain cases. You'd not have any wires exiting the PSU on the MB side. On my Corsair C70 case it would work, I could cut a hole to access the PSU modular plugs.

The way they are made now would make it an extremely problematic mod. The connectors are not wired as in old PSU's, they are mounted on a PCB that mounts on the PSU 's main board. My old Antec is a hybrid and the modular connectors in it are wired.

Just something I think about when up all night.

I better build an ark, it is raining extremely hard here right now. :)

They should be.
Unfortunately, a lot of people run it with fan down in a case, and so putting the fan that way it probably wouldn't be great for the majority.

They've always been like that since we used to have PSUs mounted in the top. Then there was a stage I think when cases first started to mount PSUs in the bottom, and it was only a bit after that when they decided to put mesh on the bottom so you could mount it fan down. But PSUs never really changed to suit that short stage.

I think if you care enough about cables, you should be buying modular anyway

They are modular PSU's...except for the 24 pin cable. Some of them are nearly square...160 mm x 150 mm. They would fit turned in some cases. It would be easier to relocate the AC connector and on/off switch. Maybe something I'll look into on an old modular PSU.
