PSU for Sli 8800GTX

Mullet

Lo all

Recommend me a psu....

I need one that is smallish form factor and if possible no longer than 180mm...as it needs to sit atop my eclipse 62....and it has a PA120.2 fitted in it!!

Shortlist is down to one

850W Silverstone Zeus....

Needs to be as silent as possible all.

Does it have quad pci-e connectors?

No unfortunately it doesn't :(

Personally I'd go for a Etasis / Silverstone Zeus unit 750w+ as they have Quad-SLI conenctors and are also tested working with the 8800GTX SLI.

Yes it does feature Quad-SLI connectors. :)

Silverstone Zeus ST85ZF 850watt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817256007 Does sport Active PFC, but is rated for a "Efficiency >80%" nonetheless.

Edit: Oops, thought the question was in reference to the Zeus, my mistake.

I'm not sure I'm following... you want to stuff two 8800GTX's in a small form factor case? Good luck. I could barely stuff two 7900GT's in a CoolerMaster m-ATX case. As for the PSU size, I'm not full of info on them but the more W's the bigger they seem to get. I think what it really comes down to is how much other hardware do you plan on running besides your CPU and GPU and other necessities... you could get away with a 600-650W PSU, and possibly get it up and running, though with 8800GTX's I'd start in the 700W range. (They do take 4 6-pin PCI-E connectors, yes?)

My thoughts;)

TJS

I keep waiting for the day my 1KW knocks out my apartment complex's power...:D

..TJS if your talking about mullet hes got an eclipse atm, wich is a fair size case. and is looking to get a different one (lain li ftw).

cheers Ham.

Thanks for the input so far all...

The case will easily accomodate a 8800GTX Sli setup.....midi tower yes....midi dimensions....not quite. Pretty cavernous inside is ye olde eclipse.

The biggest issue is the PSU compartment at the top and the placement of my rad. Anything longer than 180mm will not fit....the PA120.2 takes up just over half of the case's depth...hence me thinking about a tj07 or a Lian Li V2000. What to try and steer clear of hoooooge cases tho....the Mrs would not be happy if I sat an even larger black box on my dining table.

:nono:

The be quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W is a standard size, good quality unit with 4 PCIe connectors and the amps to run them. Depending on where you're at you may have issues finding one to order though...
