I realy dont get it to be fair. Yes Sony took off the Install other OS feature with an update. So people decided to hackit to try and get linux backon the system.
But what the Hackers are doing by saying its for the gamers, is absolutly total garbage, and just them trying to justify themselfs making alot of people very unhappy over the easter break. With the edition of steam being introduced onto the PS3 I think they will of just made things worse as I can see sony making all their games online activation only. with the help of steam. Who we all know are very popular with game manufacturers due to their anti piracy systems.
I cant understand the fuss over installing bloody linux onto a PS3. I brought a PS3 to play PS3 games. If i want to use linux ill run Backtrack 4 live CD. on my PC. as its a cool little OS. what good is a bloody PS3 with linux installed.
Agree (I edited out the other bit cause i don't agree with you on that part) any OS on a Console is a waste unless you don't want a PC.
But these people claiming to do stuff for the better of others is total bullshit. All they are is attention seeking, selfish losers. How is hacking into something knowing fullwell if Sony had caught on the system would be disabled, how is that to the benefit of others? Now noone can use it. Yeah thanx asswipes.
This extends to copyright software too. all it does it hurt the consumer, not the companies. The companies just wont bother supporting the systems anymore or making any games that are worth buying, meanwhile we as the consumer miss out, all because someone was too cheap or is addicted to stealing.
Anyway it should be back up by next week. mentions of "the week of May 2nd"
I could care less about online gaming, i just want PSN access to validate my DLC and have access to the store.
As for the Credit Card info bit, true? but even if they didn't store the info, somewhere along the line they have to link to it and they still get blamed if that portion was comprimised too. Ultimately it's upto you as a buyer to keep tabs on your statements and report anything bogus.
and upto the banks/companies to keep transactions as encrypted as possible. But even with the best security in the world, if someone wants to and has the resources and nohow, there's nothing to stop any system from being comprimised. as long as you are online or buying stuff you are at risk from dubious people.
now bash Sony time
I only just got that email about what they are claiming happend, a blog i might add that's been on there website for the better part of a week. Yeah awesome letting everyone know early
and Weird, got 3 accounts on my PS3 1 for Aus, 1 for USA and 1 for Japan. (US/Japan) only for demo's no money involved. the US and Australian one both get the 800 network error - you have been signed out, but the Japanese one just gets the PSN down for maintenance error.
and i had a Sony PVR i bought 2 months ago, had to send it back last week as the HD died. <Spooky>
