Though the numbers are still great for Sony, bear in mind they're most likely selling at a loss. They'll get their profits back with game sales and whatnot, but the console sales figures alone aren't going to get Sony money.
AMD on the other hand...
Well selling consoles for a loss for the first year or two is expected. Once the hardware loses value and yields go up they begin to make profit. The money they are making right now is just paying off the debt or to AMD.
AMD may or may not be making money. Depending on how Sony/MS did their contracts and such. Might have sold them far an immensely low price to allow the console be so cheap. Which may have explained why Nvidia did not get in the console war. As long as it helps keep AMD afloat i do not care who wins. Competition is what we need most in the PC market.
