I am also looking into something that hasn't been done much before and will disclose this when I get my research completed. This has to do with the water cooling system.

I will be initially be cooling the CPU with the first loop and then adding another loop for the GPU(s).

So what do all of you think about this set-up?

What have I missed?

Suggestions for improving this build?

Also, I'm doing some editing to this post if something changes.

TIA for your help!

I really find it hard these days to argue with setups similar to this without a strict budget.

The stuff u listed, for the pc components, I can only really say will work splendidly.

The only arguments really would be a persons personal taste of manufacturers, or camps with the graphics.

tbh if u said 4870 or similar - there still isn't a real argument. I might suggest a 280 if u had the budget, but again that'd just be personal choice, both will do a great job.

Thanks for that input. Much appreciated.

I haven't done a build for myself for about 5 years now. Currently, I am working with an air cooled and overclocked Athlon Barton core CPU @2.5GZ. (Still one of the best around IMHO), with a few updates along the way. Actually, it's sitting on a tech bench right now. So, I decided to treat myself to the MAX with this build. It will take some time to gather the resources for the parts but I am willing to wait to get a good build.

Please feel free to throw your thoughts out there about any of the components. I am always open to suggestions and your input.

Sounds amazing mate!

I'm pretty jelous lol

One peice of advice:

Stick to windows xP and wait for windows 7!!!!!!!!!! lol

one of my biggest mistakes was moving to Vista lol

Nah it would be a waste for him to stay on 32 bit when he has 6GB ram. Vista isn't a really bad OS, it just takes some more time to configure. I used to really hate vista but now that I'm using it I get more and more used to it.

I tried Vista Ultimate as a trail when I had to reformat a hard drive. It seemed OK but the "permissions" were driving me crazy. Seemed like it needed confirmation to do anything. Maybe I didn't know what I was doing or I didn't give it a long enough test. I finally gave up on it and went back to XP Pro.

The thing is a good idea imo, but it's not been adopted in the same way as the creators of the concept intended.

Seems silly to me to be able to "ok" it when comes up - like an eula "ok" - and even if u do, the program involved is not given the same rights to do what it needs to anyway. Which is why some things won't install correctly unless u turn off permissioning.

Which brings me to my next point: U can turn it off m8.

Guess that I didn't give it a fair chance in the amount of time that I used Vista. My "frustration" level got the best of me and I just plain gave up on it. I know that I will have to use 64 bit to take advantage of the amout of memory that I will be using which brings me to another thought, will

Windows 7 be a 32 or 64 OS?

Wish that I had an extra drive to give the beta a shot. Would be nice to see what 7 really has and if Mr. Ballmer is just rantaning and raving again about another useful but ineffective OS.

The extra drive I have has Unbuntu on it and it seems to be a nice OS. Just not enough goodies out the yet to become my main OS.

Just download windows 7 beta 7000 build. Partition your hdd and youll be fine. then you can delete the partition any time you want and then just defrag the computer, and hey presto. nice clean hdd again.

Im dual booting on vista ultimate and window 7. both 32bit.

As for the UAc (user account controls) these can be turned off with a simply unchecking of a box in the control panel in the user accounts section. Then restarting. SIMPLE!!

So get download and get testing.

you cant go wrong...

U bet! I will start a new thread for Project: Black Max as soon as I start getting the components. I'm going for the WC items first since this will be my first build with WC.

The components should start arriving tomorrow. I will have some time to work on the project next week as I will be on vacation then.
