Proposed build for a pal!

Hello everyone, my friend is contemplating stepping into the world of PC building and I wanted to share his hardware list that he has decided on getting. It is not final but I was wondering if I could get some extra feedback from others (a.k.a you guys).

So, here it is:

NZXT Phantom 410
i5 3570K
MSI z77a GD55 mobo
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
EVGA supernova 750 -OR- NZXT Hale90 750 -OR- Corsair AX750
MSi TF3 7950

He already has an HDD and DVD/Bluray drive that he's going to use.

So, what do you guys think? He is also in need of a CPU cooler as he plans to over clock the CPU. I did recommend a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 or Noctua NH D14 but I am not too clued up on decent coolers as I only use the stock one on my rig. His primary use for the PC would be gaming and regular day-to-day tasks and he'd also like the possibility to add a second graphics card in the future.

Thanks for your time,

Jim =]

Looks pretty much perfect to me...

Maybe considering swapping the PSU to a fully modular Corsair unit, or a Silverstone Strider - but that's not a big concern.

Also maybe see if he can spend a little more and get a D14 or H100i or something?

Looks nice, only thing youll be getting comments on will probably be PSU and cooler.

750W is too much for this config, except your pal plans on crossfire.

And a SSD would be nice in that price-bracket.

I forgot to mention that he would like the option of potentially cross firing in the future.

Would anyone be able to comment on which of those 2 PSUs would be the better option?
I know that the Supernova is fully modular whereas the Hale90 is hybrid etc, although I don't think this would be of any concern.

The Phantom 410 doesn't have any filters for the intake, you'll have to buy some separately if you want to keep it dust free.

They're both decent.
I'd probably rather have the Hale90.

Although looking at the price - I'd rather get the AX750

I just had a look at the AX750 and it seems to be a bit cheaper than the Hale90.
The Supernova is only £80 odd though I think.

Cheers for the input =]

AX750 gets my vote too, fully modular, fan barely spins up and has great reviews.

Out of your two id rather take the hale.

Brilliant, I'll put it to him =]

The specs are subject to change. What I listed was just what he'd considered so far. I shall add the AX750 to the OP.

My vote goes to the AX750 as well, exactly for the reasons that Kyze has just stated. :)

Also; does your friend already have an SSD, cause he will see some great improvements with an SSD compared to a mech hard drive! A 60GB boot drive just for Windows and some random apps should not cost an awful lot, but it deffinitely adds to the overal speed of the machine.

Other than that, if he's not overclocking yet the Intel stock cooler will do the job for now but if he wants silence he should deffinitely look at an aftermarket cooler. Something like a Hyper 212 Evo will help making it more silent and even allows for a slight overclock. If he can wait it out, he can use that Intel cooler and get something like an NHD-14, H80i or H100i (or Swiftech H220) later down the road.

Besides that it's a nice set-up! :)

Please refrain from submitting more than one post at any one time, before someone else has replied. Features such as the Multi-Quote system and the Edit button are there for you to use.
Consecutive posts clog up threads and make them harder to navigate.

P.S. Big up the Essex massiv.

Ok dude, no worries =]

Kind of a late response but have you considered instead of a phantom 410 get a Fractal Deisgn r4 window version.. Bout same price but much higher quality:)
