Hi guys, been away for a while, not been using my mach for a year or so but dusted it off and put a new sys together with an opteron 146 and some corsair 2gb and a 7800.To start off with i used a A64 arctic freezer and managed to clock upto 2700-2800mhz :) .Pretty pleased with that and thought hell yeh the prommie will push me past 3ghz easy. Oh NO. Installed prommie and well the board wont go past 230fsb any more and no post.:@

Try as i might i cannot get anywhere near where i could on air !!!

Have tried all differant bios' mem solutions vores etc.

Guess this board just don't like phase.

Any of you guys got any ideas before i either dump the board or the prommie ????

Any help appreciated.

Regards RjCoolio.

Could you give us more details about the board your using and the settings in the BIOS please mate? It'll make it easier for us to figure out if it's cold bugged or just a setting in the BIOS :)

Cheers

Boardy

Well it's my first guess aswell but I'm just wondering cos if he's runnin the Asrock ULi SATA-II Dual and it's the board, I'm screwed for my system and chilly unit when it arrives, before I get hold of the SLI-DR.

Okay guys figured, seems it is the cold bug as just dropped in a 144 Cabne and managed to get her upto 300 fsb, this cold bug thing is a real bitch as now i'm screwed over knowing the chip will do 2800 on air but no joy on phase :@ . Btw the 146 is a Cacje 0545bpmw so if your using phase stay away from these chips. Not sure what to do now.

Do i ........

A:- Run the chip on air at 2800 forgeting about phase ?

B:- Use the 144 on phase at 2700 but slacker mem timings & get rid of the 146 ?

C:- Scrap my mach2 phase and go for the water cooling setup ?

D:- Try and get hold of a decent opty that will work with phase and sell both the other optys ?

P.s Think the 144 at 2700 has a lot more left in her as only running corsair

2gb value select with the nanya chips and reckon this could be limiting.

Well pi**ed off what a bitch :O .

I`m considering the same options as you.

It wont make any difference to the coldbug, but if you get a chance, please could you run TCaseMax (http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=83) and let us see the numbers for TCM and TPD?

If you try the 144 with a RAM divider and see what it can do- higher clocks are higher clocks.I`d sell the lower performing chip, but thats just me.

Tough decion(s) I know.

K

weird thing is- just like you the chip that didnt do so well above ambient went further under phase than the good above ambient chip, though neither would OC higher than the Above-Ambient clocks. If that makes sense

K404 heres the scores for tcasemax m8y.

Now think i'm gonna get a new opty but how do you go about finding a decent stepping that will work with phase????? Anyone help ????

Got 2 optys here 144 and 146 both perform well on air up for sale.

Hell maybe if the mission for a phase friendly opty is too hard i may have a prommie for sale too !!! :@

Damn that cold bug :( .

my cabye gpmw 0536 does 3.3-3.45 under my chilly, try going for the cabye gpmw; they dont seem to have cold bugs. Maybe on the bay?

I'm getting the same d4mn cold bug with my vapo/opty. Might have to go back to regular a64. Do the dual core opty's have the same cold bug problem?
