this will be designed as a portable solution for a LAN gaming pc. something that will offset my previous project (project leviathan) due to the fact that that beast is HEAVY. - Also there is always a risk when moving water cooled rigs, especially one as heavy as leviathan.

What I shall also be doing, if I go for the cheaper case, I shall be modding handles into it and maybe a 120mm on the top.

Initial views and ideas before I post full details are more than welcome.

I wonder if a 4870 will fit in that case...

aye it should. On the smaller version of that case, someone managed to not only get a 4870 in there but also a scythe small form cooler for q6600 cpu

however.........VEEEEEEEEEERY tight squeeze - hence why im opting for a modular PSU otherwise i've got a sneaky feeling it aint gonna fit :P

and no socks....im NOT going to dremel my cables :P

edit:

also - if you guys can come up with a kickass name, that would be awesome too.

I used to have that case and I can fit a 8800GTX so I think it should be fine for the 4870. Hope to see how you getting on.

Get this motherboard instead and you can proudly call your rig Lanparty! :p

Jeez. A great cpu in there, not necessarily overly overclocked so u can use a decent smaller cooler, 4g, one of the top gfx cards that doesn't get too hot, some small optical - like a laptop one, couple of drives, 400-500w psu, good air flow, stick a good wifi card in there -- and u have one heck of a performance gaming... well do anything I guess, pc.

Package all this into a similar size to a console, good enough to look stylish in a tv room and u have a massive seller. Be sensible with the price.

Crucial Ballistix for £25... wish needed some DDR2 lol.

On topic I think this should be a really interesting build and if you're into the Transformers film, you could call your project All Spark

:D

GENIUS!

and thx for the comments peeps - i'll deffo be checking out the dvd drive too!

now....just for the cash :D

I've decided on going for a 4850 due to the fact it will only be used as a LAN pc and not as a main gaming rig. no point spending the extra £50 on it.
