Couldn't think of an appropriate name as its not gonna be an excessive build and there's a few months before I'm gonna be able to start this to think of a good name if I want one in the meantime.

Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to plan the aforementioned build and ask for criticism and advice. So here's my current two options subject to change:

£1200 Splurge:

• Lian Li PC-B25F

• Asus Rampage II Extreme

• 6GB Triple Channel Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866MHz

• Intel i7 920 D0 Stepping

• Corsair HX750W Modular power supply

• 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 HDD

• Graphics card to be determined upon release of Fermi. Otherwise ASUS 5850.

£1000 Slightly more conservative build:

• Lancool K62

• Asus P6T SE

• 6GB Triple Channel Crucial Ballistix Tracer 1600MHz

• Intel i7 920 D0 Stepping

• Corsair HX750W Modular power supply

• 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 HDD

• Graphics Card to be determined upon release of Fermi. Otherwise ASUS 5850.

There are obviously some parts in the conservative build that could be downgraded but I'm not looking to have to change parts for at least 1 if not 2 years.

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome.

Rune.

Have you looked at the s1156 i7's at all? They're pretty good chips, and will be much faster if you don't plan on overclocking thanks to their turbo boost.

Also, I would look at getting an SSD into the build, as the difference is simply breathtaking. Until you've used one you simply can't appreciate it.

Yeah I'm definitely looking to overclock on this one, gonna see what I can get out of it as I know for a fact the PC-B25F (mid tower!) has temps almost on par with a HAF 932 (full tower).

I thought about an SSD but the price/GB was slightly terrifying. Though I may plan on getting one after a while.
