Well,

We have a big update!

The Motherboard is here, and much smaller than i originally thought..

Here's a view with it inside the PlayStation, just as a size comparison..

its surprising how close the actual motherboard is to the size of the board that was originally in the PlayStation!

But hold on, whats this?!

IMG_1640.jpg

Yup. the Dremel came!

IMG_1643.jpg

Anyway, i got to grips with it and went to my tool bench and removed all of the plastic bits and bobs that were holding the old boards in, and it came out like this..

IMG_1644.jpg

Not a perfect job, but its fairly smooth.

Here's the motherboard in it after removing all the stuff inside, i think i want it to sit like this..

Something else came today, the PS1 to USB adaptor, so all i have to do now is work out how to remove its plastic casing!

I sense the dremel may have something to do with it, i think ill wait until later and wake everyone up in the house

Anyway, im not too sure what will appear next in the wonderful british royal mail (sarcasm). God the're rubbish! D:

looking mighty fine XD

Little bit of an update for you all
smile.gif

I've had a little bit of trouble with the motherboard, and i have since discovered that it does not have a sata drive port.

So, the only realistic option without having a useless old SSD which acer used to fit these boards with is to boot a USB drive..

Anyway, the top and bottom of it is that im going to lose my UBUNTU virginity!

Ill pop it on a usb flash drive, (2GB) to start off with and then at a later date make the drive bigger..

Ill post back in a few hours with the OS running on it! (Hopefully)

Merry christmas!

Here are the promised pictures of Ubuntu running on the PS1, i like it!

Screen view, with a cheeky OCN page on the side
