well hopefully this time it will....maybe....kinda......hopefully.....

the old girl just wasn't cutting the mustard...

what with an old Alphacool Nexxxos triple rad, Asus Crosshair and AM2 6000 (waits for Jims abuse to start) and old 8800gts (I do have 2 but only 1 ever made it in to the case the other is still on my desk at work) she was starting to show her age. Now I tried to start a new one ages ago but due to a heavy workload it's done nothing but sit there.

Case is staying the same as I had a spare G70 and was kindly powder coated by Tom @ Chilled

Tom even came up trumps with a blank side panel (without fan holes) and kindly had it laser etched for me (skaters will know that design)

and even more he sent me one of his prototype Thermochill rad grills (OK this was a while ago)

now while there's totally nothing wrong with the radgrill this is being changed to a one off laser etched version...design to be finalised but this will be based around my favourite hobby - Skateboarding and mostly in respect to Independent who manufacture the best trucks in the World :D

Plans are to have red plexi in the side panel and the 'Independent' name etched into the plexi plus there's a few tricks up my sleeve for modding the case... ;) (big thanks to my main main Woody @ Big Woodys skateshop for flowing me some 'special' bits ;)

Now on to spec...

errr as Jim and a few others will tell you this changes daily, scratch that hourly but I've finally decided to move from AMD to Intel...I have a Q6600 and an E8500 sat there and a decision must be made soon.

Mobo is probably going to be the XFX 780 or 790i with a few personal mods done.

Memory - errr Corsair spec to be finalised but all depends on which Mobo as it's DDR2 or DDR3

HDD's are staying or I may change them, undecided yet.

Graphics cards - man the bain of my life, GX2's or 9800's or wait for late May/June to see what Nvidea are doing, although I keep waiting, hence never getting anywhere.

Cooling - Water of course....

Dual loop probably maybe triple loops depending.

Mostly XSPC for the main loop may do CPU on its own and GPUs on seperate loop or may just do them as a single loop if I decide on XSPC it'll prolly make the GPU decision lean in favour of a couple of 9800's.

MIPS or EK for Mosfets etc..

again a few one off's and tricks up sleeves for the watercooling if my plan comes off........all depends if I can finance a new lathe at home and get it past the wife :D

So really nothing to report but maybe if I post it...I'll be forced to do something about it.

And while I'm at it I might even finish this (being watercooled again)

Nice man, good to see you back in here...

I think if you are gaming, e8500 - if you can get it to 4.3ghz then it beats the q6600 at 3.6ghz in all the usual things bar cpu score on 3dmark but gets better sm2/3 scores (which is why it is better for games).

gx2 is the current king, if you are restricted by budget get 1 9800gtx and sell it on release of the 9900gtx and get one of those. If budget doesn't matter get a gx2 now and sell that when the 99's come out...

It's gonna be good :D

Awwww man I really want a G70 :(

well the old un-powdercoated one will be going spare with Rad included once I build the new one so watch this space, it's not perfect but a G70 non the less.

Mr Smith - good to be back tbh, I still come on daily but work life has been more than hectic..so no real involvement but I do speak to Jim and Matt on an almost daily basis.

Love this place :D

should grip the center of the indie logo ;) and slap some 8" trucks on the underside (with square wheels so you dont lose it)

not quite 8" Indy 149's are here though :D

Spitfires are here too......... :D (skaters will understand)

it is a cut out, the whie part is the box underneath, the cut out part makes an excellent death frisbee :D (the cut out (white part) has already been made in to a clock and is official time keeper in my mates skate shop )

Wow Ayd this is shaping up to be a sweet rig. I'm really digging the powder coated G70 and the mod to the side panel. Welcome back too as we've missed ya :)

Looking nice Ayd...will be keeping my eyes on this one to see how things pan out

(hope life is treating you well).

well not much to mention at the moment but it's still going on...

A new Plastic Heat Bender was ordered today and is hopefully here next week....

CPU Waterblock is arriving Friday......still waiting on VGA blocks

Had a really good idea the other day about dual loops but forgotten what is was now and I'm annoyed as it was a good one......I think

so not a great deal going on but I'm determined to finally get cracking this time

Nearly forgot - lots of mCubed bits arriving for monitoring, BigNG, extension hub, waterproof cables etc.... and a rather s
