PROJECT:its about time

ok, i think i crushed my cheap ass venice lol. What a waste of 60 quid, well im not sure what is the matter but the screen is all fuzzy, the temps were quite high, so i tightened watched them go down, then i look back and it was fuzzy. O well, **** happens. Ill order an opteron

Fu*k me! You crush a Venice and order an Opteron? Do you have more money tan sense?!

I think he does, Justin in my opinion and proablably many others you should not own any of that hardware - especially a mach 2. You dont know the basics of overclocking, you are unsure of what you've done to your venice, so its like F it i'll order another chip.

You seem to have money to blow, and ovbiously thats whats going to keep happening. I can see many other things going wrong...

No offence, but learn the basic overclocking first, just because you have a mach 2 doesnt mean its ok to wack everything to high and see what overclock you get....

nuhh it wasnt the venice, lol. Something up with my gpu, you guys dont realize that i saved 60 quid today, that i was going to pay. I also dont have that much money lying around, i budgeted for a powermac quad (2.2 grand) i still have quite a bit left...Let me do as i wish, this is just a thread to show my progress not to dis me.

ok, i could have been sure that the cpu was stuffed. THe gpu doesnt even turn on the screen. Everything else works, but no monitor action. Any ideas? iv taken off the heatsink so i guess there goes the warranty.DAMMITT

ok, so the computer sounds like its going on, there are 4 red lights at the bottom left of the mobo. I think it could be a busted gpu, that would reallyyyy suck

ok, its the gpu. Just went to test it...Is it covered by warranty if i put on the watercooling?

THanks

JUstin

Hey Justin,

Have you another mobo etc to test the gpu and cpu on? Maybe that would be best to figure out whats really going wrong? I had a vapochill unit once and had problems too but i sold it now as i dont know too much about them si o figured id stick to water cooling! Good luck with it all though!

Dave

As far as i understand warranty is lost if the standard fan is taken off and replaced by another! I believe it is the same as cpu`s.

o ok. I tested it on another computer, same issue. It just popped to, which was odd. I will order another gpu and see if that fixes it. I think the mobo is stuffed to, rma time! (does anyone have a dfi for sale?)

No one's dissing you Justin mate, just it seems you're spending money where you don't have to! Hopefully you'll have learnt from the mistakes you made with the last components so your next attempt will be spot on

RMA wise, if you can make the components look as they did when they arrived then you should be all good for RMA

Also, equilibrium and justin: could you please use the edit post button for any additional comments instead of posting a seperate post.

Phil provides this place free of charge so lets try and keep the bandwidth down where we can :)

ok, iv wrapped up the gpu, will rma it. If it doesnt work then it is the mobo, but i dont have the mobo box nymore

right the warrenty is void if the fan is removed but, if you put teh fan back on whose any wiser theyw otn check it for tampering, put it this way i messed up a volt mod on my 7800gtx took fan off etc even had epoxy marks on board and a fried black bit on vgpu area and tehy still rma'ed lol

who you buy it off i some connections at places so coudl get it doen quickly for you

Phil

Here is what each of the LEDs mean

System startup 4 led’s on, no CPU detected

CPU is detected 3 led’s on, memory not working

DRAM is detected 2 led’s on, VGA not working

VGA is detected 1 led on, unable to load OS

i didnt crush the venice, the mobo is blown, as with the gpu. Both can be rma, but i need a box for the mobo. Can i borrow someones and send it back to them? (pay for shipping both ways)

i bought it from overclockers, the dfi needs replacing to (maybe your connections could rma me without the box?) you are my lifesaver. ALso im going to sell the entire rig at the end, and buy something built. Its just too much hassle for me...

well i dont have em at overclockers a few other places but not there :( most places providing you box it properly when posing will accept it back un boxed and send your replacemnt out unboxed

but overclockers have a massive rma time so iv heard i.e. upto 2-3 weeks which is naf i can get it done in 3 days with my conections in other companies.

Also i ahve a box for a dfi sli -dr

also why you selling when it so good give it time!!!

Phil

i love it too bits, but its just im really scared with the mach and it breaking again. 2-3 weeks is no prob as i have another computer. How should i box the mobo? wrap it in bubble?

DFI themselves handle the RMA process which is why the estimated RMA time from Overclcokers is so long.

They're also notorious for spotting overclocking related ******** ups, so make sure that if you have used dielectric grease in the socket you remove the socket itself and clean it as well as the motherboard, as that's a common one for failing RMA

Andy

remove the socket? i used seal string, will use a blob to take it off, all of it. Then put the original mounting kit back on, you think that will work?

also my gpu core is smothered in dialectric, will they open up the heatsink to check?

not the mobo, the gpu..Ok, i should be able to remove all the seal string, and have no dialectric grease on there. It is worth a shot...

the thing is, the memory broke on the gpu not because of my actions. Also the mobo smelt funny, which is why i am rmaing like burning silicon, didnt smell to good. I am returning it for their issue, but will still need to remove the seal string.

well overclockers dont pick up the phone, and i dont think there is rma hope for my dfi. What do you guys think i will get more for; All my parts in one watercooled, phasechanged computer. Or selling all the parts off individually

i think i have fixed my motherboard :)
