Hi!

Been here a while and never really showed anyone my rig, mainly as it's been upgrades in progress ever since I started here.

Early this year, the rig was this:

Things have come on a little since then:

Still a work in progress - will be adding a bottom rad to watercool the graphics card because the fan on it is the loudest part of my rig

3770k

P8Z77 Deluxe

8gb Mushkin Blackline

AX850 with Braided cables

MSI 7950

Crucial 128gb M4

The improvement is very significant

. Looks the danglies.

Updates:

Few updates :-
Never got round to watercooling the graphics card, but got a new one instead to replace the noisy 7950. Ditched all the out of place red fans, and filled up with lots of Silverstone Air Penetrators (couple more to come maybe).
Also - ditched the noctuas! :O

I also recently bought a white bitfenix led strip. It makes it look really good with the side panel on - without it, they're blinding and is drowning the colour out of one of the fans...

Anyway:

Noctua 'mod':

and with the lights....

You'll probably agree the bitfenix lights bring out the colours of the cables, graphics card etc... they do ruin that fan a little though. Nevermind! :)

There may be a few degrees in performance difference with the new fans - but I think it makes up for it in looks tbh......Just need to think of new things to buy now. Pretty limited for buying anything else now :(

Current specs:
P8Z77 deluxe
3770k
D14 with silverstone fans
AX850
KFA2 670
Crucial M4
CM 690 II

You need to hit the front panel cables with some sleeve man.

p.s. Are you going to remove the noctua when you move it to uni?

I've considered sleeving the cables, but considering I dont really have anything else to upgrade inside it, the next step would probably just be the case anyway, so I cant really be bothered to sleeve them if it'll be replaced sometime soon.

And I wasnt planning to? Normally just box it up and lay it flat in the boot of the car. Shouldnt really move round much on it's side should it?

Nice mate, I REALLY like it. I've never heard of the KFA 670. Is that a well known brand?

And when I moved across the state I had my PC in a moving truck with my NH-D14 installed, nothing happened, still works :P

Have you heard of Galaxy? KFA2 is just what galaxy is called over here. They arent a very well known brand here either, but their card coolers are fantastic and quiet, so they're good from my point of view.

I can see if the case is upright it could cause some issues, but I've always laid it flat in transit, so it should be alright, I hope...

Why the Z77 Deluxe? Just curious as that's an expensive board.

I thought having integrated wifi would be better than a usb or pci card as I've had many issues in the past with drivers and stuff.................how wrong I was :)

So basically I bought it cause of the wifi.

The choice was really between the Pro and Deluxe. I was contemplating watercooling at the time as I had the funds after my 18th, but then I found an amazing deal on a laptop and decided to get that, which meant I'd have been really pushing it for watercooling. Because of this, I just ended up buying the more expensive motherboard as I liked the led indicator, the heatsink design and the dual wifi antennas. I realise now that it was probably a mistake to get that above, say an msi z77a-gd65 as I'm now using powerline anyway, but I still dont regret it. At the end of the day, It's still a really nice board, loads of features, and this has to last me through all my student years at uni, and then probably a few more after that, so I probably prefer it to be as good as possible and low maintenance.

Similar to the AX 850 for a single 7950 (now 670). At the time, the AX650 and AX750 were both £125, and the AX850 was just shy of £140. So I had the extra £15 available easily enough so I thought I may as well :)

In not doing watercooling, it also meant I could afford loads more fans, the 670 upgrade, the M60 and K90, the puretrak talent - and also the fully braided cable kit. Fair consolation for not having watercooling :)

Come on James, you should just do what I do and run an ethernet cable out a window to where your PC is! Thanks for the information, the Deluxe is a really nice board and you should enjoy it. The stuff you got with your watercooling money is definitely also a nice way to spend the money!

As I said - I'm using powerline anyway now so it's all pretty irrelevant with the wifi. Dont even have the antennas plugged in any more.

I've also ordered a 3rd set of fan clips from noctua so may have a triple fan D14 soon ;)

I actually have mates (twins) who's parents were worried about the effects of wireless internet on their kids so did fully ethernet their house...
Every single room has an ethernet port...even their pool room...
(which probably explains how they could afford to do that)
