OK then

New project.

So far I have in my head:

Black Pearl case

Internals powder coated...colour undecided

2 waterloops:

Res here

One double or triple rad for CPU

Laing D5

DTek FuZion

One double rad for NB

DTek Pump

?Enzotech or Eddie NB block?

1/2" tubing/barbs etc

Total overkill I know...but who cares tbh

Fans: Noctua...maybe sprayed I don't know yet

Hardware: current rig:

Xeon 3070

Abit IP35 Pro

2gb Cellshock PC6400 @ 1100MHz

MSI 8800GTX

BFG PhysX card

2 x 160gb Hitachi Deskstar HDD's

SATA DVD-RW

Tagan 1100w PSU

Crystalfontz LCD...maybe

Stuff I have lying around:

Sheet black perspex

Sheet black brushed Alu

CM Crossflow fan

Blue UV Dye

Green and White LED's

Loads of jubilee clips

Lian Li V2000 wheels (silver)

Sooo...inspiration from you guys:

* Colour of interior powder coating

* Lighting schemes

* With lighting schemes in mind: watercooling colour schemes

* Possible window mods (nothing stupid but I can do some etching at a push)

* Small touches

Thinking of going quad though I haven't decided yet tbh

This isn't the project log thread but a starter for my ideas :)

how are you going to get that res ?? havent seen them anywhere since they got released ? unless you already have one ?

Black and Red?

Black and Metallic silver? Perhaps a bit of red lighting? Blue uv dye?

Perhaps a OC3D Kempez window etch? (Might make it unsellable tho)

Nice case Kempez, nice res too, i got one for my cube and the shroud but i decided on a bay res for fittings sake, going to use it in the future !

What about something really different like black internals, white exterior !!?

Black outside, Blue inside with shocking blue lighting.

Few splashes of orange UV paint.

And a SS in the base :D

OK some more ideas as to what is going to be involved.

I've always liked understated exterior so it will most likely still be black. However the devil will be in the details. There will be a lot of added small touches to the outside making a case that looks special whilst still being smooth. The interior will start off with blue powder coating but highlights will most likely be in Orange to match OC3D colours and I will aim in getting one blue and one orange loop to match.

As I said this project will be detailed but not themed as such with the interior being added to with many small touches such as good modded cable routing and well placed watercooling holders and placement. I am not going TEC or extreme cooling as I simply don't see that as practical for 24/7 usage

I'm thinking the res should be shown through a window in the top of the case as well as the traditional window and proper switches and a custom unit made for cathode/lighting management as well as all the other electrics. I also will be trying my hand at more etching to see if I can achieve a high standard in that.

Noctua fans will be used throughout but I will try to get these painted up in the project colours to a very high standard.

Basically it will evolve as I go along and I welcome all ideas from members :)

Sounding much better than the OP, it's got some direction now :) I mentioned a few things in that PM but now I see where you are going with this...

Any change of case/components?

Are you interested in penryn or would you rather pick up a cheap g0 q6600 and wait for nehlam OR are you happy with your golden proccy (won't it do 4ghz 24/7?)?

I think you should cool the sb/pwms in that nb loop too.

Not interested in Penryn unless one maically lands on my desk for keeps ;)

This is more a case modding project than an actual hardware upgrade, just something to remind me why I do this. Proccy will do 4GHz 24/7 aye :)

May get SB in the loop, see no point in PWMs tho

The project always had direction, just didn't put everything in as I wanted people's ideas :)

OK so the project organising has officially got under way.

In addition to what I have:

Xeon 3070

Abit IP35 Pro

2gb Cellshock PC6400 @ 1100MHz

MSI 8800GTX

BFG PhysX card

2 x 160gb Hitachi Deskstar HDD's

SATA DVD-RW

Tagan 1100w PSU

Laing D5

DTek FuZion

DTek Pump

and my extra "stuff":

Sheet black perspex

Sheet black brushed Alu

CM Crossflow fan

Blue UV Dye

Green and White LED's

Loads of jubilee clips

Lian Li V2000 wheels (silver)

Props to the guys at Noctua for just making the best fans I've ever used tbh :D

Outside will be Blue and inside will be Orange.

I will be doing some (pretty poor I expect!!) Sketchups at the weekend but I am deffo cutting a top window to view the gorgeous res and a side window to show off all of the goodies. Etching will take place (after some more practice!)

So ye, we're on the way :D

EDIT: case should be with me by next week at which point I will be taking some serious dremel to it :D

Also on a sad note I'll be saying a fond farewell to Black3D soon, but I'm sure mrapoc will treat her well...she's a beaut!

Pearl Necklace?

Damn you Jim! You beat me to it! :D

Colour scheme asside what is the 'personality' of this rig - like Jimbo's BI is going to be a loud powerful beast... Just thinking of other sources of inspiration other than water and pearl...
