Well this is the thread for my project :D

I dont have the kind of money to spend that phil aka flash git has to spend (btw ure chrome setup is so sexy) but never the less i wnated to do a 'diary like' article on what im doing.

What have i got currently?

Unbranded ATX Midi Beige Case

Stock Mach2 in black

3Ghz SLW6K P4

1024Mb PC 3500 Geil Ultra Platinum

Rad 8500LE (awaiting RMA for my R9800Pro)

Black Nec 8x DVD-RW

Black FDD

Tagan 480W PSU

At this current moment in time im not running the unit in my case as it dont fit in properly :P I dont want to set it up in my thermaltake xaser mk3 either as i intend to buy a new kit.

Because my P4 wont get past 3.9 im selling it and buying a hand picked 3.0 P4 SLW6U from a friend

What i propose to change/buy:

Complete Lian Li kit, all drive bezels to be covered with Lian Li fascias, case will be replaced with a Lian Li PC65, will purchase a Mach2 Lian Li kit too.

I intend to fit a nice water cooling kit for my gfx card, im hoping as i only want to water cool my gfx card to be able to use 1 or 2 5 1/4 drive bay to store nice blue water colored resevoirs, obviouled im going to buy water that wont blow my components up if there is a leak :P

Ill cool my 3Ghz P4 with my mach2 to over 4Ghz once i have the new CPU, hopefully ill run my ram at 5:4 with nice timings or i might have to think of getting some OCZ 4400 running at 1:1 (only time will tell)

As im waiting for money at the moment and also the next gen gfx card b4 i purchase water cooling i have to be patient :P ill keep you posted!

P.S sorry about quality of pics my dad has an obsession with Sony Mavicas (the ones with FDD) and wont upgrade :P ill bring the camera home from work soon :)
 
I have a bit of a set back :( something seems to have died last night while i was watching "The Butterfly Effect" for the second time this week. I initially thought another video card had died so i changed the card and still no joy. I think my CPU or mobo have died, only time will tell :P

BTW wen i pulled my CPU out today i noticed it was a Costa Rican chp which is prolly why its not a good clocker :(
 
Update

Found out today through Phil that my CPU is fine after all (thanks a lot Phil) which means something else on my PC is dead :(

Im hoping its just the motherboard as this is easy for me to RMA thankfully, ebuyer are really good on their returns.

If it aint this, i dont know what it is, I dont have anything to test it with either :(

my sl6wu costa rica is rock stable at 4.1ghz. so u cnt jus class a chip thats not a malay "bad clockers"
 
its a SL6WK not a 'U' from looking arrund the 'K' specimin dont seem to be anywhere near as good on avg as the malay chips.

Anyway just bought Brws' 30cap malay SL6WU off of him, cant wait for it to come, ive also aplied to ebuyer for an RMA for my mobo, shudnt be long now :D
 
Update!

Yeehaw :D

running at 4.02Ghz as we speak, dont have the volt mods done yet tho so dont wanna try higher, having to run at 1.77v as its hang at 1.7 during prime as its hits 1.6 :S (havent bothered pissing arround with voltages between 1.7-1.75) ive been running prime and winamp (usually winamp crahsed out for me) together for over an hour and a half, its at -15 CPU and -30 on the evap, and its really hot in my room today else it wud be a bit cooler i suspect :D

During this job i lost a 512mb stick of DDR400 which i sold my dad lo, im having to use only half of my geil ram atm, the other stick is in the server. So if some1 can rescue me with like 256-512mb of PC 2700/3200 i wud be over welmed, i dont wanna spend much tho as im poor :P
 
after playing arround with it a lot last night it still seems to hang wen running prime 95, im hoping once the volt mods are done it should be ok though :)
 
gorby if you could that wud be ace man, it sux that i lost some ram, dunno how the hell i managed it :S

some good news for once, my new ati card is being sent to me :D

taking off the HSF didnt void the waranty after all, either that or they didnt notice :P
 
Update

I got bored so thought id do an update:

My replacement board is friend already due to me being the pratt i am :P its getting picked up tomorrow for RMA replacement, probably will get a new one easrly next week.

My replaced gfx card has arived, with stock fan it was clocking to arround 420-430 on the core (much better than my old one) and the memory was at 360 (not quite as good as my old one)

Will push for more when my thermal compounds arive so i can fit my artic silencer.

Ordered my custom PC75 off phil today (top man) cant wait to get it, decided just to get the standard bursged aluminuim effect, i think that looks the business. Getting mine cut just like his as im copying the water cooling set up hes got for my X800XT (that i aint ordered yet :P)

Oictures will follow as soon as i get my stuff running again :D
 
at bloody last!

Not tried anything higher yet as its took me all day to figure out whay i was having instabilkity, but im now running stable at 4.05ghz, the chip can handle more but will test that later.

My 3.0 SL6WU which i bought off brw is running at 270FSB @ 1.725v (about 1.74v idle and 1.71v 100% load.

I tested it on a 5 hour half life map compile, was perfectly operantionable even though the map compile used 100% CPU.

Unofrtunately it seems to be kicking out a lot of heat tho, on full load with fans on turbo in my mach2 the CPU was hitting arround -6 to -5 so i think a regass to r507 is order :D

Its taken me about 2months to get here but ive finaly done it, all thanks to brw whom i got the CPU and the ram and endless hours of help, thanks so much buddy!

Pics will follow later once ive tiedied the up my beautiful lian li PC75 i got customised for me by Phil :D

those temps youre getting seem low too so yeah you will improve i am sure :)

well once i get another front plate for the CPU kit i will begin to mod my one becoz its still not 'biting' when i tighten it up, i think they used the current method to make sure people didnt over tighten and crack the mobo/CPU core, but they used crappy plastic threads which crumble :P

Anyway been running all night on load and its still working perfectly, i would also like to comment how excellent the PC75 is for the mach 2, so much space that installing it is extremely easy!

Im gonna take it apart again today to try fix the god dman FDD, tidy some cables and put some bl00 cathodes in it ready for when i get my bulgin power switch working :D
 
yeah that sucks...my fists cpu kit which was a bit different on the back plate had a lot better threads...

at least the first one i had all screws would bite securely!

in the last 2 cpu kits i got the first one was busted and now the second one i go very very slowly in tigtening the bolts cos you dont even feel the screw easily reaching the end -starting to bite :(
