Project: Cobalt (Chromed Copper Pipes, Custom Laser Etched Midplate and More....)

wow love it how did you do the pipe work is that a kit or is that steel pipe and a pipe bender job ?

thanks for the comment, the pipe is just about 2.5m of 10mm chromed copper pipe (standard stuff for bathrooms etc) bent using a rothenburger microbore bender.

Awesome rig dude! That Circuit board mid plate has given me some real ideas for a future mod thanks. Kudos.

nice that's a good idea makes me want to use copper pipe in my rig as all my blocks are copper what fittings are you using ?

Oh. My. Goodness! This is beautiful! I especially like how you've almost disguised the switch with that front mesh work. Really like that!

I've always wondered about copper + fittings. I assume they are designed to take regular tubing? How then does it work with the copper tube? Does it just push in the clamp down? I'm new to this kind of thing but it's always puzzled me as I've never seen one 'in the flesh' to try it with? Could you possibly pop a picture somewhere of how it goes together at the fitting end.
Sorry I realise that's quite cheeky to ask, but you never know if you don't ask!!

Awesome build!

The fittings are designed to take hard piping, they work by pushing the pipe in and this forces little piece of metal aside, they piece of metal push back on the pipe forcing it into an o ring. the only way to remove the pipe is using a special tool that pushing these metal pieces out of the way.

i have loads more pictures in my full build log on linus' forum: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic...-etching-cable-sleeving-and-more/#entry489258

there are some more pictures of the pipe in the fittings, just look on the contents (2nd Post)

(probably going to get in trouble for that link but i am in the process of copying it to this forum) :)
