The Monolith

Cheers mate :)

It's 3M Di-Noc carbon fibre vinyl, really nice quality stuff :) I just got it off eBay, not sure if I'm allowed to post links, but you should find it easy enough should you want some :)

Cheers

I have a server case (really solid stuff but looks ugly), and I don't have enough money for a better looking case, so I think that carbon vinyl might just be the answer.

I just laugh when i see my server case going for £170 on internet, i would not even pay £25 for it, but hey, i got it for free!

A friend wants to sell me his old zelman z11 for £20 but i dont have money right now and he wants to sell it withn next 2 days :L

Yeah server cases can be so expensive :) Modding is often a great way to improve the look of a case :) I plan to make more panels for mine, I'd like to make another panel wrapped in carbon fibre, to cover the whole motherboard tray :)

Hey Reemy I got a question about that piece of carbon fiber on the bottom of the case. Is it just layed on the top or did you do like what TTL did on orca? where he took apart his case and bolted everything together as one. I really like that look. Thinking of doing that on my future build that's why.

I had planned to bolt it in place to make it more secure, and I'd bought the bolts and brackets and things to do it, but then I just secured them all with velcro strips. They're secure enough :) And easy to remove should I ever wish to.

Thank you sir. I think I will go with your Velcro method. It looks tidy, plus saves me some money on buying bolts and nuts and not breaking my budget. :)

Mine isn't mounted sideways (well the text is the correct way up so I assume it's the right way up) and even if it wasn't it wouldn't make a difference mate :)

I'm a tard and I can't figure out how you quote multiple things in one post lol, so..

@Tripp: Thanks man :)

@symi: I know right, I've loved these since I discovered them and dreamed of one ever since :D

@AverageNinja: About 2 weeks now and I'll have the rest of the stuff (getting paid and birthday money too :) )

Can't wait to get the rest of my plans under way, so exciting.. till next time :)
The CPU block is typicly mounted the other way, if you look at other watercooled builds you will see the fitting come out of the CPU block the other way.

Well the text is the correct way round on it, and I doubt there would be any temperature difference with it the other way. Even if there was a small difference I'd rather keep it so the text looks correct, I'm a bit OCD about these sorts of things :)

I don't think it will make any difference in temp, I didn't even notices the text but in that case I would be the same. The ocd head on me would drive me mad if I mounted it the other way.

Looks like the Corsair SP2500 to me.

Yeah that's right :) They are awesome :) Tom did a review of them a while ago.

Over the last couple of days I've completely rebuilt my PC because there were some issues niggling at me, and this is the only chance I'll get for a while.

I've made some more of the carbon fibre vinyl panels to cover the WC holes to the left of the PSU, made another to cover the rest of the motherboard tray, and made one to cover the top of the PSU. I've bolted all the panels to the case now, as they were only velcroed/wedged in before. I've mounted an LED in the flow indicator and pump top, installed backplates to the graphics cards, got an EVGA SLI bridge, and replaced the faulty cathode in my reservoir so it's lovely and bright again!

I wanted to desolder the green motherboard LED and swap it for a blue one, but for some reason I was just unable to desolder it. Instead I covered it with a permanent marker because I didn't have time to wait for paint to dry, but it still shows through quite a lot. I'll do it next time I take it apart I guess (if there is a next time before my next build).

I still have to do the cable management, but once I'm done I'll get some new pictures up :)
