Case with 2nd Prime Coat:

I had an issue with my old respirator and had to stop and buy a new one. Picked more paint as well while I was out.

Progress is a little slow. I'm trying to get at least the prime coats and the black coats completed today. Just don't want to rush things too much. The clear will go on tomorrow.

No, the clear is not necessary. Just an extra step that I am taking.

What is necessary is the preparation, sanding and primer, at least IMHO.

You can never have too much sanding, priming, sanding, priming. Ok you can have too much, but the case never can. Time and effort always go rewarded.

Looking lovely. Can't wait to see it with the colour. Shooting the first colour layer is always the best bit.

Haf, the work is looking great :D

hope it gets dry fast, must be pretty cool in your place this part of year.

im getting inspired to paint inside of my case also

Soap.

First Black coat completed.

The painting is going pretty smoothly, altough I am way out of parctice. Had a couple of runs in the paint and it's not as smooth as I had hoped. Hopefully the second coat will smooth some of this out. But that is the way it goes with spray cans. The process has been a little slower than anticipated.

Tomorrow, I will apply the second coat of black and then the clearcoat.

Looking good mate :) I assume you've covered the side window? :p

Are you going to keep using the HDD caddy? If I were you I'd mod in a CM 4in3 module like used in the Centurion 590 and I believe the 690 cases too. These bays are less restrictive, keep the harddisks a little bit more silent (have used 3 590 cases, all HDD's were more silent) and cost about €15-20. Would certainly improve airflow from your front fan :)

shinny wet painting  lol

looking pretty good dude :D

hmm you talking about those ? http://www.frozencpu.com/products/7...vice_Module_STB-3T4-E3-GP.html?tl=g43c239s610 i think it would get pretty cool in the HAF too.

hmm, i saw one of these in the cosmos S case when i was at the shop near my uni, its like the stacker one just need to take off the front painel of it, if i remember right.

I need to look into that. I'm going to go ahead and complete the painting including the HD rack. The HD caddy was a real pain to get out of the case. I had a problem drilling out the rivets. It's also a real pain to paint.

Thanks to Monkey7 for the link on the HD cage. I am reading the review as we speak.

Do you mean putting in normal plexi instead of this squarepattern frankenstein? That'd really improve the looks of the case.

No, not a replacement. Actually, personally I like that look. This would be an addition to that area. Still in the thought process, so I will keep the idea "under my hat" until I see if it is going to work.

The painting is finally complete.

Put the clearcoat on today. The temp is starting to fall again outside so I will have to run the heater again tonight.

A couple pics with the clearcoat.

What a lot of work that was. I really wish that I could of had it powdercoated or powdercoated it myself. Although the finish came out OK, not perfect by any means the powdercoating would have been much better. Going to let the paint dry overnight. I will check it tomorrow and see if the paint is properly cured so I can get started on the actual build. Looks like some of the WC system parts first.

Very nice Haf,i have to say spraying is very frustrating and a fine art to master, any chance of you popping over to the uk to spray a wee goblin ;)....lol

Let me think............Ah No!.........But thanks for asking. :D:D:D

Really now, thanks for the compliment!

I added these to the arsenal today:

T-Balancer

miniNG

Extension Set - analog sensor hub

What struck me funny was the fact that I could order all of this from Austria with shipping for about $40 US less than I could buy it from the US. It will take about 10 days to get here but I am in no hurry.

I was digging thru some stuff today and I found this also:

Matrix Orbital GX Typhoon

I was going to use this on my current rig and never did. From what I have read today, I will be able to integrate the software from the Matrix Orbital display with that from the T-Balancer to get a nice readout of the computer temps, flow rate etc.

Sweet!

The paint on the case should be cured enough by tomorrow to bring it inside.

I think I will set up a dry(wet actually) run with the WC parts tomorrow as well.

Ohh mCubed products :D Once you have them could you tell me how well they work? They are also for sale here in the Netherlands and I am seriously considering them if I would ever go the watercooling way. Shame they are as expensive as they are but it seems to be the only fancontroller with programmable software.

Looking very sweet so far, can't wait for new updates.

And before anyone else does
