Programs dying for no apparent reason.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but, as title says, my programs keep dying. Im sitting here happily playing/browzing/watching/editing and BAM! A program dies. It gives me the XP version of 'this program has performed and illegal operation', with the 'send an error message' to make M$ look more caring. Sometimes its the program im using, other just ones that need to run in the background (Belkin wireless utility for example).

Ive run memtests tests 5 and 7, and apparently my ram in ok. Any ideas?

on my gaming rig the software i use for my ipod seems to not like winamp and makes it close when i un plug the ipod with the same crappy "this program encountered an error":nono:

Possible, but its only stated over the last few days. And as far as u can see theres no patten to the crashing programs.

or did it just start happening for absolutely no reason?

try system restore?

Have you checked your CPU temp and PSU rail output voltages?

had the same problem a couple of times and was solved by a format c:

Try replacing your IDE or SATA cable for your HDD. Had similar probs with an AXP rig of mine.

It could also be if you're overclocking your PCI bus isn't locked and your SATA/ATA controller is being run over spec.

I pretty much know a format would solve it. disableing ewido gaurd seams to have helped too. Ill uninstall it in a sec. Voltages are ok (taken from speedfan), 3.3 rail a little high but nothing too bad. Ill have a go at removing ewido.

Yeah. Well, +0.15v or -0.15v you're OK so I guess you're within a safe range.

Well i just checked th bios. And they read the same (+/- 0.01). It may have been stupid ewido, as its gone now and it seams to be fine.

the power supply is a factor as well and nick knows becuase theres a screenshot of the voltages.(it is not that high a possibility for them to be wrong)

you have some bad experiences with mobo's that does not mean they all will suffer with these problems.

well, i am far from alone to have had different reading in bios windows and with a digital voltmeter.

i have talked to over 15 people regarding this and a couple of them have their own computer companies so no its not a random problem its a fact and it comes from using the cheapest sensor chips possible.

also according to a page i read at amd.com some time ago they have found the temp sensors to often be wrong, up to 30celsius and they found that most of the time the temp sensors shows to little.

their is also the probllem with different reading in bios and windows too.

so myself i never trust any reported values as it has been proven over and over again that the manufactures cant make it right.

My mobo reports within 0.05v of my DMM

I never see a program or a processus close due to an hardware pb ! For me its a software pb ... drivers or dll, a programm, a windows service, something like that.

Check your event viewer (in computer management) for any info.

I've often seen programs close due to hardware problems. Infact i see it all the time.

When overclocking too far i often get Firefox closing on me and of course games crashing.

And whats with the thread revival :/

I've crashed when overclocking too much/bad memory/bad HDD and many other hardware related issues. It's the nature of the beast

Then try to set up defaults voltages and see if the pb persist.

He is right. You can crash out windows programs due to any multitude of hardware issues

Maybe it's just that he knows and you don't??
