I'm looking at getting a 7900gt, but I've been a bit worried about the proliferation in some forums saying that they are not reliable. Anyone here running 7900gt's, and anyone had any problems ?

I've got an XFX 7900GT and tbh its a POS!

Worked great and overclocked like champ..... for a day

Since then it doesnt like overclocking at all, and i think its the cause of some of my games being laggy.

Hmmm - Sounds bad - you going to RMA it ?

I was going to send it back to the retailer, but i know what will happen...

* Overclocking not supported or guaranteed

* No fault found with stuttering

I seem to spend half of my life arguing with retailers, so i'll probably just wait until it dies totally and bin it :/

Time to sell that POS and pick up an X1950XTX :D

Not exactly comparable from a cost point of view though ?!

I'm not a fan of ATI's drivers, but in this case i'd say an X1800XT would be a better bet than the 7900gt (and faster too).

Or maybe a 7800GTX if you are partial to Nvidia...

I own a 7800GTX and have had no troubles with it at all but I have read alot of bad feedback about the 7900GTX with them going faster than xbox 360's :(

This may have just been a bad batch though as alot of people still run them but if I was you I would buy a X1800XT ;)

Yeppers 7800GTX, cheap as chips now. Only real diff is the 7900GT has the 'improved' smaller core size :)

Yep, the only advantage i've seen is that they run cooler - but this doesnt help much when the card knackers out after a day :p

jim why dont ya just break somethng intentionally on the card and rma it?

then delete this post before nvidia find it :D

ROFL...thought had crossed my mind.

@PV no mine's the "super duper" pre-overclocked version.

Ah rgr that. We've found a new oxymoron (actually it's more a misnomer) XFX 7900GT overclocked :D It that cannot be overclocked

It seems the biggest problems are with the factory-overclocked versions of the model, but not exclusively.

Yeah thats what i heard too. I would have thought that the problem been rectified by now as its been going on for quite some time.

7800 gets my vote too. You can get them cheap, stick a aftermarket cooler on it (AC NV5r3 ftw) and your sorted.
