So when i run Furmark the Display goes black (computer stays on, LEDs and all fans),

sometimes it does it when i'm Playing Rift Online

P-II 555 BE (unlocked cores)

MSI 870-G45 Specs

MSI GTX 460 Hawk 1GBSpecs

GeIL Value 2GB 1333 x2

COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus 500w Product page

(sorry if this isn't the right place to put this)

Your unlocked cores are obviously not stable, might need some more volts. Did you overclock anything? Try running prime.

I Ran Furmark with the Cores locked and it did the same thing

Running Prime with them unlocked (its been like 2 months and it just started doing this)

What? No don't increase the CPU voltage. Can you describe anything else, such as:

  • Does the screen stay black until you reboot
  • Do you get any kind of error message e.g. from windows about driver recovered
  • You say it has recently started, can you remember if you modified anything/added anything [software/hardware]
  • Since you say it happens when you stress the GPU, can you measure its temps with something like Hardware Monitor + ensure your case has good air flow and is dust free
  • Do you continue to hear sounds while playing rift or does it completely freeze up
  • Have you tried updating the drivers

These are all of the questions I could come up with atm, they are necessary to narrow the problem down. Please answer them if you can and I'm guessing that either your GPU is overheating or there is a driver issue.

*Yes it stays black until reboot

*no blue screen or any message upon start up (starts up normally)

*i did reinstall windows Xp 32Bit recently and it started after that (due to corrupted files)

*Just stopped playing games (doing same thing as furmark start up when game starts up) 34C idle

*Playing youtube video while i started furmark and sound also shut off

*drivers are up to date

starting to think its the cheap Psu that i got him

sorry it took so long

Mix and match the pcie power connections to the 460.

Swap the regular pcie connectors.

Try substituting the molex adapters that came with the Hawk for each of the pcie connectors.

Etc..

(I had this when I overvolted a card, I can imagine similar happening with regular power feeds - don't trust them, even with the best of psus)

it was a dust issue, i usually clean them every 3 months, this computer is only 2 months old and the GPU is 1 month old

Maybe it was the Power Supply getting too hot, since the video card was pretty cool at Idle was at 34c and it was a Quick shut down like .5 Seconds after i started stressing it
