problems... asin my comps bust

yes it its true, he did exactly the same things that i did, and it came back to life, that psu keeps killing it though, but ive given him a spare one of mine.

and yeah you did use too much paste, it was down the sides of the cpu when i checked, and it didnt even cover the whole cpu die despite the fact youd used way too much. and yes you did hit the tracks on th gfx card, if you look thers a small scratch next to the missing resistor. ands that with the screwdriver is bull, im sorry but it is, dave and austin both manegd to undo the retention clip on the agp slot with fingers, so did i, and yet you claim its inaccessable.

please just bear in mind that im not just havign a go at you and the only way people can help you is if you say what yoiu actually did, so dont deny what ive seen for myslef please.

i still dont know how you manage to come out of things like this, i geusse your just lucky :)

I think EVERYONE, has scratched/busted off something on a PCB while installing a heatsink. I scratched my DFI quite badly a few times, but never took anything off, from slipping when trying to install my XP-90 in this small case. I actually scratched a few traces on my old Soyo board, still worked. Heatsinks that require to use a screwdriver is an accident waiting to happen, so it's a common mistake, so don't knock it. It's not broken--so. When I was building my first PC when I was eleven, (MSI KM2M Combo L), I was trying to figure out why the board was bending so much when screwing it down BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WOT STANDOFFS were. That's how nubish I was, but I used common sense and stuck'em in. Everyone's a newb at a certain point...so, let up on Ionicle a bit. Some people are also a bit 'blonde,' if you know wot I mean (like air headed). Ionicle, don't take it as an insult but sometimes it takes a bit for the lightbulb to go off in your head lol ;). Don't worry, everyone learns from mistakes, and learns from hangin out @ SX. Just take it easy with the screwdrivers ;).

right ive put it back together and hey presto it works. the only thing which worries me now is his psu, its a little knacked after getting struck by lightening
