Problem with computer freezing during gameplay

Hi, I have same problem with crysis warhead and also tried all sorts. Patched game to latest and settings lower and strange thing it iven does it at low temps. I thaught it maybe because of overheating. mine also works pretty smooth to play game.

How do you enable fps on crysis?

I have seen on other forums that Crysis has many graphical glitches. Maybe it is not compatible with some of the new faster cards and Crytech needs to work on this problem.
 
this is bull**** im starting to think an xbox was the way to go... im totally ****ed off with the incompitence of these ****ing companies that cant even reply to my queries! I HAVE JUST WASTED £700
 
Still sounds like a driver issue mate, partition the drive, fresh install of 7 with those drivers I pointed out, should sort your problems... If not, you've not lost any of your old data... Whereabouts in the UK are you?
 
I had that problem with a previous built pc, and it was constant & didnt go away, i'm pretty sure it was the m/b....or a good chance to do with a OC on the cpu!
 
I live in London/ brighton london-home, brighton-uni im currently in brighton.

ye it feels like something as simple as a driver problem because everything perfectly untill it all freezes..

graphics cards still cool to touch!

i will try a new install... its just i have the 'student' £30 version which i downloaded as an iso and had to burn to disk.... i dont know much about partitions so i was careful.

do you know of a good tutorial on how to partition or clean install... i just dont want to make any mistakes!

i now have all of the motherboard and nvidia drivers on disk so it shoud be simple enough to install them... again i diddn't want to clear away earlier drivers incase i disabled or damaged anything important.

I have no files worth keeping on my computer currently and only have a small 320gb drive so maybe a clean install would be better? considering i had windows xp 32 installed before?

Assuming it aint ur mem then maybe ur cpu cooler aint fitted correctly, u tried re-mounting everything ?

Run coretemp, blackbox or everest and post some screensshots. I'm sure we can help !
 
I would just like to let you know it also happens to me.

I think it is specific to the game since it only occurs in specific games. The Sims 3, Fifa 09 and Modern Warfare 2 crash on me if you play a lot but Crysis, Far Cry 2, and Call of Duty 4 have never crashed on me.

It also happens to me on many other games.

Recently the crashing had calmed down a lot.

I don't know if this helps a lot :p. Point is that it may be specific to each game.
 
Unfortunately, I only waited for the bluescreen once and that was aages ago.

I'll make it happen again by playing Sims 3 :p and I'll get the error code.
 
if the blue sceen does come up which is not every time, it comes up for such a short time i havnt a chance to read it.. sometimes the image looks distorted and pixelated aswell.

also it happens to every game i have, just at different times.

i will try reseating the cooling fan on the cpu.

it says the cpu temp is 43c degrees most of the time so it seems the temp is reasonable.

i am also going to try a clean install of windows 7 and all the drivers i need...
 
Blue screen comes up rarely.

The fan starts to spin at 100% rpm.

Sound starts looping (was really funny listening to Soap say "Go for his leg!").

Or backgrond sound continues (e.g. music from WMP).
 
This may or may not help you but a while ago I had a very similar problem. Despite installing all the latest drivers, re mounting my I7 cpu and lots of other things I got the same sort of random crashes and freeze ups that you got.

Now in my case I was only running a single BFG 285 OC graphics card, but I suspected for some reason it could be lack of voltage from my HX620 psu. As you are running in SLI, I wonder if you have enough power to run them properly?

As it happens I decided it must be the month old graphics card that must be faulty so I tried an old 8800GTX card I had and the problem stopped. I RMA'd the 285 to BFG and got a new card back in about 4 days, problem solved! There is a chance that one of your cards has a fault, so I would RMA BOTH of them to the manufacturers for testing.

You can look for answers for ages to things like this, but even if it does'nt fix it, you wll know that both your cards are not the problem within a few days?

I really hope you find this a bit helpful as I know how frustrating a problem like this can be?

I'm only running one graphics card.

This used to happen on my old 8400GS alongside my old 300watt PSU.

Bought a new PSU + new graphics card; still the same problem.

Something tells me it doesn't have anything to do with the graphics card or the PSU.
 
I think I might be getting close to solving the problem.

i have the asus crosshair ii which come with probeII (which i finally managed to install)

when running these games with probe in the background... everytime about a minute before the game freezes i get an alert saying MB temp to high.

if ignored this quickly leads to the red dots on screen and a crash.

It crashes with the MB at 46c and the CPU at 50c

do i need some better cooling? if so can anyone recommend any good cooling

(water cooling is a bit expensive for me) and if the mobo is too hot, what kind of cooling?

i have a lian li case which i thaught was very good at staying cool, its litterally made of fans and vents!

To cool your mb better you should see if you can get a side fan for your case. Not sure if Lian Li do one but you might be able to get a new door with one fitted, or custom mod it yourself.

That aside, at 46c neither your mb or cpu should be cutting out as that is quite cool for a machine running a game.

Try to download a copy of Everest Ultimate, even on a trial from them. It will show all sorts of info including ALL your temps and should be more accurate than the crappy Asus probe, which is not renowned for its accuracy.

 
solved it! you guys are gonna laugh but this just diddn't occur to me!

i simply tried removing and testing each graphics card individually and alone,

and low and behold; one of the cards is faulty!

while the other can play on and on with out a hitch!

the reason i diddn't think of this is because the primary gpu was the faulty one so even when sli was not enabled i still had the same problem.

anyway i feel like a bit of an idiot but thanks to all you guys that helped and hopefully someone with the same problem will stumble apon this thread and save all the time I wasted!
