Problem with Audigy 4 apps

Hi lads

Need some input please. I have just reformatted and reinstalled everything back onto my comp and I have noticed that quite a few of the apps associated with my Audigy 4 fail to open. When I click on, say the Creative EAX or audio console I get an "The application has failed to start because CTIntrfc.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." error, so I reinstalled and it's still happening. I checked the C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\Detector and C:\Program Files\Creative\Shared Files folders and the .dll is most definitely there. Which leads me to believe that the offending .dll isn't being registered. Anyway I ran regsvr32 including the whole file path to try and get windows to register it...still no luck. My next effort was using regasm to try and get it to register:

cd C:\Program Files\Creative\Shared Files

C:\WINDOWS\regasm.exe CTIntrfc.dll...still no luck :(

Anyone else had issues like this with Audigy2 or 4 cards? How did you fix it if so? All comments appreciated

Yeah sure have, and then upgraded to the latest ones on the Creative website. I get this error with either the old/new drivers...frustrating

Ok fixed! Deleted the install directory and Creative registry entries, reinstalled...and w00t it works properly again :D Dodgy bloody software

Something I noticed with Creative sound cards, when you goto the website to search for drivers/upd8s - never enter the literal name of the card - "Audiolgy" or "SBLive" or anything like that - physically look at the card inside the pc and get the model number, sometimes a letter and 4 numbers.

Often during manufacturing, models/names/grades/parts get switched/badged or setup a little differently - when they name a card, it can refer to 1 of many cards constructed a little differently.

The actual model number from the creative sticker on the card usually leads to the best software.

I`ve learnt this with my SBLive 5.1 Platinum, and very particularly SB128 (which didn`t use SB128 drivers at all!!).
