Power supply fan facing up or down??

The only real reason not to have your PC on the floor is because of the fans sucking in the dust from the floor/carpet. If your case is dust filtered or you don't have any fans pulling from the bottom of your case eg RV02 cases etc then it's really not a problem. Even then as long as you hoover regularly you shouldn't have any problems either.

Had my 690 II ADV on the floor for the best part of a year btw

If you have ugly case, than yea you can put it on the floor, but nice windowed case are destine to sit on your desk

Many reasons and it's worse if the floor is carpet. You should be able to gather why it's not a good idea to put a case on the floor. One reason being it's more likely to be damaged.

How would it be more likely to damage? What are the other reasons?

Is the R3 an ugly case? I use one and I just leave it on the floor. It takes up too much room on the desk. It seems to belong on the floor, under my table, and out of the way.

A case on the floor will be closer to children, pets and people's legs and feet. This makes it more likely to get bumped, kicked or tipped over.

It will also be closer to dust and dirt, and if that doesn't get into the case, then it plugs up filters, reducing airflow.

I have had my case on the floor next to my TV for almost a year and there is nothing wrong with putting a case on the floor.

If you put it on the floor in a space where it is likely to kicked or knocked over thats your fault for putting it somewhere where that can happen and because you are clumsy

You could just as easy knock it off of your desk if you think about it.

And as for dust, as long as you hoover and clear your dust filters regularly it isn't a problem either.
