Nice one mate! I'm not much of a telecaster fan myself. The headstock and pickguard + chrome plate design have always looked a little awkward to me. I do still really want one though, but I'd need to build one with a custom headstock design and custom pickguard. Oh, and at least one humbucker. My mate's Ashton didn't look half bad tbh

(Or after we gave it a make-over)

The money shot... aahhh one of the best feelings in the world

Like what you've done with the dead GPU mate!

I love what you've done with this, but erm is the cooler not straight in the frame or is it angle of the photo?

Yea I found that mounting it more tricky than I first thought. It bugs the crap out of me every time I look at it but I'm lazy so I'm going to have to live with it. ;)

i wont lie that would drive me insane! Going to bed every night knowing its not straight, i'd lose sleep over it

I have nudged the frame to make the card vertical and now the frame is out of alignment. Strangely that has done the trick, those couple of millimeters has made all of the difference. When the frame was vertical your eye was immediately drawn to the misalignment of the card. Now the card is vertical the misalignment of the frame disappears. Very odd...

I never liked the headstock , bridge (ashtray) and the pick-guard too . that's why it took me so long to get one.
humbuckers are not my cup of tea . i've always been a strat fan .

check my pimped strat . I painted it with nitro lacquer last month

deffinately a keeper ;)

So why did you decide to get one then? :p

If I ever have €200 ish spare I'll buy a Telecaster kit, remove around 18mm off the top of the body, put a maple top on that I'd paint matte fluorescent orange, mill the edges, some black binding at the sides, black pickguard that renders the chrome plate useless and custom bridge with humbucker pickup. But for now I have project Aria to work on!

That's a nice and shiny strat mate! Colour looks a slight bit like mine but much lighter, and mine is matte. I do like that

I got one bacause I tried my mates classic vibe and loved the sound and feel of it.

I don't have luthier's skills nor the equipment as you do. i barely set up my guitars :p

the color is very light . it doesn't look that nice when it's by itself but it looks pretty sweet when paired with white and chrome

Personally, I have been playing for over 15 years. I have dropped the concept of how a guitar looks. The sound, and neck and pickup quality is all that matters to me. I would buy an ugly novelty guitar that was shaped like a cucumber if it gave better sound than what I use now and was in my budget.

ok maybe cucumber is going too far, but you get my point hehe.

edit* G-Loc was my favourite mastersystem game. I spent countless hours on that, alongside Miracle warriors if anyone knows that one :)

Yeah they do have a pretty unique sound, but that's to be expected from the small light bodies and single coil pickups. I personally like a somewhat heavier sound (blues to metal ish) so for me that wouldn't work.

Well thanks for the compliment but my skills are limited, I just like doing it a lot and when you take your time for it it's not all too difficult. Just takes a lot of patience, which I never used to have. I just really want to do a good job on them though and especially with woodwork it simply takes time.

As for equipment... well, yeah my dad owns a jigsaw and one of those small power tool milling machines, but no fancy CNC stuff or anything for me either :p

Yeah I do like the look, very vintage! Just think the clean white pickguard doesn't go with the aged pickup covers and knobs very well, you should leave it out in the sun for a bit! I just bought a pearloid pickguard for my strat like a week ago but I've yet to put it on

Yeah I get that! Tbf I like most guitar body shapes from strats to Les Pauls. Telecasters are the only ones that just look cheap to me and the double-cut Gibson models are a bit 'meh' to me, but not too bad. I'd love to own one of each model

Playability is the main concern for me. How low can the action go, and how much can the bridge be adjusted for for instance dropped tunings, etc. Also the scale length can be important depending on the tuning that you want to play in. The rest like the paintjob, pickups and hardware can all be changed really and I love making things my own anyway!
