Damn I don't know how I feel about that Alienware. I can't make my mind up!
Like any new one at first I didn't like it. It takes a while for me to get my head around them as they are pretty radical.
The PSU is fine, it's a Delta. Their stuff is hardly crap. I could paint it, but with it whining I would be risking it.
If you have a look at some reviews the thermals are excellent and I will completely vouch for that. A rig running SLI and so on that operates on three 120mm fans is quite a feat of engineering, especially when they never have to even spin up.
Not many PCs come with fully braided extensions or cables. To braid them would be very easy because they're all modular but I would possibly leave that to Shakmods. Problem is I won't be leaving the side off so right now it's not bugging me enough tbh.
It's a pre built rig that I bought with all of the reason and intention people buy pre built so obviously that means I don't need any hassle. The way my luck has been lately I would braid the cables, the PSU would go pop and they would refuse to replace it.
The cables are what ruin it, no doubt about it. What specs has it got?
CPU - 5820k factory overclocked to 3.8ghz, bumped to 4ghz by myself
Asektek Liquid cooler
8gb 2333 DDR4 memory
MSI Alienware motherboard, Quad SLI capable, triple SLI capable
850w 80+ silver Delta power supply
GTX 960 2gb (replaced with my Titan Blacks)
Soundblaster Recon 3d (onboard)
Killer E 2205 network card (onboard)
Intel Proset wireless
2tb Toshiba hard drive
Bluetooth
Slot loading DVDRW
SD card reader
It's about £250 more than current market price. However, it includes a next business day onsite warranty, nearly all others do not. Last time I looked I could either buy a 4790k/970 rig for a grand or a 5820k/960 rig. It may even have been more, so less of a difference.
I haven't seen any rig by any manu come with fully braided cables unless you pay extra. Some do have just plain black ones though.
