my new (old) pc desk who could tell its a 30 year old kitchen top?

nice!

They are partnered with BT and O2, I'll stick to ye olde Plusnet for my Fibre optic awesome customer service and general service over all.

You sure about that?

I'm pretty sure they're their own company. They have the monopoly for all the phone lines in Humberside - pretty sure BT's actually competing against them legally to try and get into the region too.

I don't think you can go through them anywhere outside of Humberside, and I know you can't get BT there.

When I was younger my parents had plusnet broadband, being the tech guy of my house i had to deal with them often. I don't know about you but they treated us badly, utterly terrible service for us in northern ireland.

+1 for Plusnet, I've been with them for about 18 months, on one of there no contract services and it is awesome. You aren't stuck with an 18 month or 2 year contract and can choose just to stop using their service.

You get up to 14 days of usage after your bill date before they suspend your service and a further 14 days before they disconnect you and charge a reconnection fee. Their free usage after midnight and before 8 am is a nice touch too.

Communications companies buy their lines from BT Wholesale, probably explains why it is BT is trying to compete with them now to get the lines back. They are doing the same with Plusnet customers at the moment but they will NEVER be able to compete with 3rd party prices, if BT lowered their prices and improved the services they'd steal the market. I pay £27 a month for unlimited Fibre and anytime phone calls with Plusnet and BT can't even compare they offered me the same setup at their best price of £45... not even close BT!

i absolutely don't get the point of those. they do the same smartphones do, but a lot worse.

In a place where you can't look at your phone? Check that e-mail or text.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, lol, I don't see a real reason either

in what place can't i look at my phone? school? a meeting? the rules will apply to a smartwatch as well.
i now understand how old people feel about computer and such.

I think basically is whats going on here is the redevelopment of clocks hundreds of years on.... not satisfied with a clock that occupies an entire building (church/early computer) through much refinement it is packaged conveniently into a box and brought into the home (grandfather clock/pc), quickly this becomes popular and people want to move their time telling device around the house and take it to work (carriage clock/laptop) and while this is good somehow it requires too much effort so the refinement continues (pocket watch/smartphone) and eventually we reach the natural pinnacle! (wrist watch/smart watch)!

Now just think everywhere there is a clock many years later there will be a computer! In your car, on the microwave...

Perhaps one day there will be a talking computer you can call on your phone.... hmmm sounds a lot like siri.

the wristclock i bought about 5 years ago is still running. a smartwatch needs a recharge after a day. i don't think that's convenient, not to mention that you have to carry around a smartphone anyways because the smartwatch doesn't have a sim card.

I think it's awesome. It's not about not being able to check your e-mails or texts when you can't get your phone out because lets face it, if you wore this to school then you'd be told to take it off because you aren't allowed that sort of stuff in classes, or exams!

If I get a notification it's not often I get my phone out to check it, I'll just read it later, I can't be bothered going back and forth texting, tweeting and so on with people, my ex girlfriend took that out of me with 6000 texts per-month! but I' am curious still when I do get a notification, this way I can see it and forget about it. Thats not the whole reason I bought it.

I'll use everything about it, again I can see my calls from this, if it's important then I can see, if not, leave it, or decline it. The stopwatch I will use daily with my fitness side of things, so being able to set a timer and work my way through training from my wrist is perfect. Even the torch will actually get used, where I work, at the end of the day in the winter you can't see nothing, and the light switch is up a flight of stairs so it's not ideal. I'll be able to check my e-mails, most of which are usually not important unless I request something, but newsletters and offers and such I usually ignore.

You can actually send send texts and make calls from it, the texts are pre-written ones which I've never used before but I'll probably make use of these if someone tries calling me, I can just say I'm busy, talk later.

It's seriously smart as well (no pun intended) it looks really really nice, nobody would know walking down the street what it was, they'd probably be able to tell it's some sort of digital watch but not a smartwatch. I think it was £135-40 from Amazon and for that I think it's awesome, couldn't be happier with it.

I wouldn't add anything to it off the top of my head, if you add to much then you'll need a bigger screen and you may as well just use your phone. I've never stuck to wearing a watch before, and last night I woke up and actually reached for it, lit it up to check the time, "Yes, 30mins before I need to get up yet".

There are a good amount of useful apps that are within Smart Connect, but I think there are hundreds if not thousands more but just not listed as official Sony Smart. There was an official fitness app their too so I'll have to see what that is.

As for charging, it's supposed to go 4-5 days I think without needing to charge it, I can't comment on that seeing as I only unboxed it last night, charging was at 49%, as soon as I plugged it in it went up 1%, it takes 30mins to go from 0-100, and it's not gone down overnight so thats a good start. You charge your phone everyday, so why not your Smartwatch? It's not a hassle to put it on charge whilst your asleep, not like you need it on your wrist then.

For those that do wear a watch, why not use one of these? You can do more than just tell the time so why not.

you really want to read emails on that 2" display? a stopwatch a normal digital watch has as well and that one doesn't need a recharge anytime soon. checking calls is pretty much irrelevant since you will need to take your smartphone out of your pocket to answer anyways.
not to mention that a normal clock looks a lot better than a smartwatch.

Lol I don't read e-mails on the 5" display or whatever it is, it's always promotions or something so I have actually read everyone that came through so far, usually they just get deleted. I've just used the stopwatch so that was handy, and I don't see why have a digital watch over this when it has more to it, okay there is a place for a normal watch like if you had a Rollex. The calling isn't irrelevant since I don't even have to move to see who is calling, so unless it's family then I don't even need to get my phone out the pocket. The clock face is a personal choice, but you can change the clock to what suits you.

Don't be hating on Smartwatches boi! If they all become the norm in a few years time you'll be walking round with one on. ^_^

i sure as hell won't. i haven't jumped on the smartphone bandwagon yet either, but at least i get the point of having one. a smartwatch just seems to be one hell of an ugly second display for quite some money.
