Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

New CNC came. It's a fuggin TANK.

My old 3018-3040 kit won't work as the new one has 12mm rails (instead of 10mm). So I bought some proper bar and my mate is making me new ones. I also bought two A4 sheets of this in 5mm to make new sides.

OK so I did not realise you need special bar when making rails for CNC. They need to be ground, so that they are dead straight but also exactly the same size down the span of the bar. Otherwise it could jam.

So, I bought 1m of the correct round bar and sent it to my buddy. He did mess up a tad, but made a spacer. His machines all take imperial measurements, so he needs to convert everything into that before doing it.

So that should be the CNC sorted. Am going home for a week, they should be here waiting when I return along with the clear yellow acrylic. So I can then machine the new side panels for it !

I am completely at my f*****g wits end with Now Broadband (offshoot of Sky, only worse).

I have been with Now for 4 years coming up in October. Last winter I saw some city fibre barriers outside and they had the pavement up. I thought we were finally going to be getting full fibre. Instead it has been delayed *again* with no idea of when it will be available.

Now ever since they had the road up my broadband has been terrible. Weekends it is the worst. Yesterday I counted 11 red lights, meaning a 10 minute wait minimum before it came back again. It is infuriating trying to even do basic things like watch YT and Netflix.

Today I counted 6. 17 drops in two days. I have phoned them about ten times now and each time someone who can barely speak any English gives you the runaround, which always ends up with you resetting the router meaning every single smart device in my house gets booted. I am not joking when I say it takes about 4 hours to set them all up. And every time those dipshits tell me to reset it I have to go around the flat doing just that.

Now IMO? the router is screwed. It is over 4 years old and yeah. I reckon it is dead. But getting them to acknowledge that and send another one out? to at least appease me? has proven impossible. I have upped my complaints twice and not one of those times have they offered to send me another. Just the same. Power cycle, inevitably reset, not fixed.

Well today I got their "threatening" email. You know the one? "hey c*nt given you have been a loyal customer of ours for over four years c*nt we will start charging you over 60 quid a month c*nt if you don't sign another two yearer, c*nt".

Something within me just snapped. I really try as hard as possible not to let anything anger me any more but yeah, this has pushed me to a level of anger not seen since I was in my 20s.

So I did some research. Still no update on full fibre which is now 4 years late. I did, however, find this.

It is not fibre of any sort. It is a 5g home hub on a contract that should in theory be about 5x faster than what I have now (50mb if I am lucky on a download).

I've gone for it on a 12 month contract @ 24 quid a month. It is worth paying the 2 quid extra in case full fibre ever does show its face. Which is also 14 quid cheaper than what I have now. My landline will be gone, but I have not used it in over 6 months since I got the Samsung S24 FE.

Coverage is also amazing here.

Like literally I am bang smack in the middle of the masts. It is also fully portable and you can take it anywhere that has at least 4g coverage.

I'm quite excited tbh. I don't change ISP often but I am beyond my limit of angry now. God I can't wait to (hopefully) phone them in 30 days and tell them to shove it up their foogin ass. That is another thing. I have not switched because there are no lines in use so you don't even have to. You just trial it for 30 days then tell your existing ISP to bugger orf.

Pray for me lads. I will hopefully be using it tomorrow 'cause it went straight out with DPD within 20 mins of calling 3.

Well im very fortunate as i get 1gb up and down for £30 with befiber in my area but only cause the council here had the sense to invest on a modern new exchange building and it cost them a huge wack to do that, but yep it's fast 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 😅

I wish I had that kind of service. ATM I use EE and I have to pay more than that for worse service...

Well I'm quite lucky. As soon as you leave my town it gets rural fast. Like, mum lives 7 miles away and my new setup won't even work on 4g there.

Thats one bonus of living in town I guess.

12-1 it will be here.

Took a while for it to connect first time

Before I got 68mb down and that's a good, week day. This thing? 212mb lol. Old ping 11ms this thing pings 4ms :o the upload is 4x faster too.

ASUS THOR III 1200 Watt Gaming Power supply via Grooves-inc dot com as it is (still) not yet available in NA.

It had an issue with the magnetic display readout going dark, seems to be resolved by connecting the PSU ARGB cable directly to the motherboard ARGB header instead of via the hub that came with the case.
