Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Just pre-ordered the HTC Vive Cosmos, Same res, FoV and refresh rate as the Vive Pro but no annoying base stations to setup due to the 6 x built in sensors, Excited would be an understatement ^_^

Oh snap!

Pre ordered it too.

Mentioned on another thread but might aswell post a pic.

Edit: PSVR is surprisingly good if you can ignore the resolution. The bank heist demo is excellent!

£127 with the camera. It's batman I was after but there are a good few titles I want. Already had resi evil 7 unopened so yeah no brainer.

As long as it's as good as the DK2 I'll be more than happy :)

So the Vive Cosmos pre-order didn't go as planned, My bank knocked it back as it thought it was fraudulent activity so by the time I got to the pre-order page it wasn't working properly so I then just compared the specs of the other existing HMD's on the market, It's really not that far ahead of the Rift S so I just said bugger it and got the Rift S, Saved £300 quid by doing so not bad.

Visually it's a maHOOsive visual upgrade over the Rift CV1, Seriously night and day, I was very happily surprised, Text is extremely legible now, Jaggies are massively reduced, Everything is soooo much clearer, God rays are basically gone and I haven't seen the screen door effect whatsoever.

Sound wise it's actually not bad as they moved the speakers into the headband, With some tweaking they aren't far off the original CV1 dedicated headphones but I use my DT770's anyway so it's a moot point.

Tracking is as excellent as the original CV1 which had wall mounted sensors, The Rift S has 5 sensors in total and the 2 x sensors at the front also act as passthrough cameras which is a bit of an excellent touch IMO.

Setup took maybe 3 minutes total, Plug in DP, 1 x USB 3.0, Launch the Oculus program, Which is a 7GB download, And it walks you through it, Maybe at the max 2-3 mins total.

Comfort is miles better, I forgot I even had it on after 6 hours of mining in Elite Dangerous ^_^

Budget arcade fight stick refurbished so cheap and cheerful :)

May at a later date upgrade the buttons and joystick with sanwa parts if I feel the need but for now pretty happy once it's here I can get back into my wealth of fighting games past and present :)

It supports PS3 PS4 X360 Xbox1 PC so will be nice for all my arcade fighters.

Not to take away your thunder here but check this out

https://www.provideocoalition.com/review-oculus-rift-s-the-most-accessible-pc-vr-headset-for-all/

Ignore alot of it, but it reports many of bugs, some of which are still not fixed. Maybe you are aware already, but I know from a colleague that the white screen flash is still present even after latest patch.

Available for $399, the Oculus Rift S has been the subject of multiple critics, some completely without sense and only showing that buyers did not check the specifications before buying it. But the headset has a series of bugs that Oculus says it is correcting, from tracking problems to crackling sound on the speakers, to continuous requests for setup, black screens and white flashes. While some of the bugs seem to have been ironed, there continue to be some, like the white flashes that appear on screen momentarily; Oculus states it is working on a fix.

How is it in Elite, I know the one thing that stopped me putting my Rift back on was the awful lights coming from text and although you could read it, it was annoying when you had this blue light shining the from the top and bottom of the text.

That is the one of the things that have stopped me getting back in to Elite because once you have played it in VR, it's very difficult to go back to a standard monitor.

Brilliant in Elite but after playing other games more I'm taking it back, The lowered refresh rate for me has had a negative effect of giving me motion sickness, Didn't have that at all with the CV1 due to its higher 90Hz refresh rate.

No good for me then, I don't get motion sickness with the CV1 but the 90hz just didn't feel enough, I was hoping that although they dropped it for the Rift S, that it would not be as noticeable.

Shame really as, as much as I like the look of the Cosmos or what ever it's called I might just give it a few years to let it mature more and see what comes then.

Stick with the Cosmos :) its gonna be modded alot.

Either that or go for the Valve Index. Sadly its not available in Norway plus im not shelling out cash for the base stations ontop of £600 for just the headset.

Also learned that those who preorder the cosmos get the vive library, 12months subscription for free. So plenty of time to test out others.

Yeah I just re-pre-ordered the Cosmos and this time it went through properly so quite looking forward to it, Just hope the place I ordered it from doesn't take months and months after launch to get it.

Technically not a purchase, but Google are giving these away to established Google One users at the moment. Don't know if I'll use it or just sell it, but still, pretty cool free thing given how much they cost at retail.

So this arrived today!!!
Looks fantastic, what do you reckon so far?

Bought a 35mm prime for my crop camera, should be decently sharp. It's new, but stamped to 2011. Alpha mount gear doesn't exactly fly off the shelves.

Thanks mate it is really nice and even though I'm an MSI fan I still made sure it passed reviews which it did so bought it and I'm not disapointed.
And the lens you bought what camera is it for?

I'm perfectly content with my 1440p monitor but seeing ultrawides always makes me second guess that. :D

It's for ILCA-68. Basically a gimped plasticy Alpha 77 II, but its got the same sensor. Reason I'm in this strange ecosystem is the fact that I inherited a Minolta 7D and didn't want to swap the mount after dropping it to a lake. :freak:

Yeah strange that they don't tend to work very well in a lake..............the only reason I asked is I'm into photography a little bit myself I have a Canon 7D MKII and I have a 50 prime myself.

Got this. Original California bill poster.

Couple of VR games to go with RE Biohazard.

^ That is bloody incredible. At first it doesn't seem much different to Lucky's Tale, but when you sync in the controller and it starts playing tricks on your brain you realise it's years ahead in terms of dev and ideas. You sync your controller into a space in VR. It then appears on screen. As you move it it moves perfectly. As you move sticks and press buttons it moves them and depresses them. What totally blew my mind though was how the controller changes. You kick little robots in the ass and they fly into the air and land in the controller. Which really is mind bending as it looks like the real controller. Fantastic game, can't wait for the full version.

Was £2 odd and works on XB1X. It was never officially released for the 1x, so is quite expensive for a code. Around £40 IIRC.

Finally (and I can't believe I am typing this) a PC Upgrade !!!! can you Adam and Eve it?

I wanted to upgrade the cheap 10 core I threw in my Alienware at my mother's. It's not a Q sample (Quality) so lacks Turbo boost 3.0. It turbos, but you get an annoying message every time you boot into Windows. I only paid £90 for it over a year ago so I wasn't mad. I wanted more clock speed though, and this delivers.

800g39j.jpg

23 is not the full turbo. That's the all core base clock under load. It turbos to 3.2-3.4ghz the same as my 14 core. It cost me £135. Try getting better value than that. Made sure it will work with my board (seller handily has a list and makes you contact him to make sure before you can buy) so it should all be fine. I aim to put the 16 core in my main rig, remove the 14 core and put that in the Alienware. Happy days.
