Niall Quinn, director of Sunderland AFC piad £8000 for taxis for supporting fans after they were refused entry onto the airplane home.

They had travelled from Sunderland to Cardiff to watch the match and weer refused access to the plane.

That is definately one way to keep the fans supporting you.

Top man - and they won the gane as well. :D

A manager did that but using coaches a number of years back.

I`d like to say it was some1 like Stuart Pierce.... some1 like him..

£8000 is peanuts to them lol

Still they could have easily said "its not our problem".

I am a Newcastle fan though so I am not going to support Sunderland too much

Yes, I've read about this news some time ago. What Niall Quinn did for the Sunderland supporters was noble, kind and generous.

The best football club director ever? Open to debate. Perhaps. May be. Depends.

It is certainly one of the nicest things I 've known from a Championship league football club has ever done to it's fans.

It is the thought and the deed what really counts and £8000 is a lovely sum of money.:yumyum:..as a gesture to the supporters.
