Possible future upgrade.....

Hey all,

Just throwing out an idea for my next upgrade from my lil i7-950 (specs below)

I5-2500k or i7-3570k

MSI Z77A-GD65

16 GB Vengeance Ram ( 4x4GB ) 2 blue and 2 black to color match board =)

AX750 PSU Full Modular ... current PSU isn't modular

EVGA GTX670 / SAPPHIRE Radeon 7970 ???

Will all be in my NZXT 810 with the water loop, possibly adding a 240 radiator if I decide to dual GPU.

Not really a hardcore bencher, just gaming, browsing, and general streaming of the ever impressive TTL videos.

Or should I just stick with what i have and up the video card alone?? And the mod PSU with new sleeved cables

Thanks all

Cpu upgrade not needed unless you want to get rid of some money

I'd keep it at least until this time next year when Haswell comes along.

Graphics cards you then could upgrade. 7970 is still slightly better than a 670 I believe, since it performes almost exactly the same as a 680.

But 670 / 7970 / 680 would be a nice upgrade ^^

What power supply have you currently got? An ax750 is an absolutly solid unit, it'll last you for ages

Currently running a Corsair TX750 non modular, so I have a vast amount of cables I don't need that need to be tucked away.

Looks like a solid build man, are you going to have an SSD, i think that would be a good investment especially with the prices these days?, plus with the GPU its preference but i would go NVIDIA!!

I'd say stick with what you have for now and just upgrade your GPU. You aren't going to notice much of a difference from going to SB. 670 or a 7970 would be the best upgrade in my opinion, both are good cards but if it was me i'd probably go with the 670.

if you are watercooling id recommend the hd 7970, the small pcb on the evga 670 will make it look very small if watercooled. if you go down the 670 route you could use a 670 on a 680 pcb, it would look larger and use a 680 waterblock when watercooled.
