Please advise

I'm looking at the MSI GD 65 mobo for my system. Can anyone recommend ram ? I think 16gb. is plenty for me (I'm working on putting together a DAW station). The test report on Msi's website is very short. I have 4x4 sticks now but I am told 2x8 would work better.

Thanks.

You won't see any difference really.

Having 4 DIMMs is only a disadvantage if you're overclocking your CPU (or RAM I suppose) using the BCLK - which you won't be on 1155 - or any new sockets for that matter.

Get 4x4gb of 2133mhz RAM. Brand doesn't really matter, although Mushkin, Corsair, G-Skill are all good choices. Just whatever is cheapest.

Probably wouldn't suggest dominator platinums as they're overpriced, and mainly for looks.

Just put the order in a while ago. I called up Asus tech. they say these will work with the board I have now, so we shall see. Thanks

I honestly don't see the point in running high clocked memory. Intel isn't really sensitive to it so you'll hardly see a difference.

What CPU are you running?

I have to say I completely agree. When I initially switched to Sandybridge my Xeon is of course locked. On the board I was using then (a crap little £30 MATX) I had no choice but to run the ram at 1333mhz.

Since then I have had it at 1600, 1833 and 2000mhz and it has made absolutely no difference AT ALL in benchmarks.

I will be running it at stock 1600 now. No point shortening the life of it for no performance increase.

Well, I must say actually my sys. seems to be running better. you can see programs load up faster, games, open office like that.
