Planning out a couple rigs

So I have 3 rigs to build out. One of them is for a friend and he's already set on the majority of his build and what he wants to use. The other is for my parents since I'm headed back from school I figured I'd build them something for Christmas. The last being my own.

Long post I apologize.

For my parents I was going along the lines of an 13 setup. Not set on a mobo yet but onboard gfx is needed.

I was looking at an MSI 55m

For the processor I was looking into the i3 540

I'm even thinking that an i3 is a bit overkill. Again open to suggestions. All they will be doing is browsing, maybe some skype to family overseas etc.

If any have recommendations in general on this build let me know. If it was for a friend or other family member I'd know exactly how to set it up but since its my parents I'm not trying to cheap out on the build you know.

i3 might be overkill but if you go with socket 775 you pretty much buying dead technology cos it's just going to fizz out completely in the new year with sandy XD IMO.

At least with i3 even though the new year will see socket 1156 overpowered, you'll still be able to get the components for a while afterwards.

Ya I know 1155 will be taking over but I have to build it in time for christmas so I rather not wait. Plus I have the whole build together for $350 US. Only thing I'm looking for is a case. Can't find a decent looking matx case over here so I'm looking mid.

Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz

MSI H55M-E23 LGA 1156 Intel H55 matx

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800

OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular ... overkill lol

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 320GB 7200 RPM

SAMSUNG DVD Burner LightScribe

maybe COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus cpu cooler.

I had their 700w modular PSU with no issues. Hmm. They were having a sale for Christmas that was the main reason why. Ill see what I can do with cable management I just hate having to stuff all the un used wires somewhere lol.

BTW the OCZ I listed ends up being more money than the corsair you posted up ha.

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 630 2.80GHz

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 AMD 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard

RAM: G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GT 430 OC "Dual Fan" 1024MB GDDR3 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

PSU: Corsair CX 500W ATX Power Supply

Case: Coolermaster Elite 335 Case - Black

£375ish Roughly on the website I used.

As their using it solely for browsing skyping stock cooler etc would be fine their would be no reason to Overclock and I dont see them needing to upgrade any time soon.

Samsung B2230N 21.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black £120 if you need a monitor with it ^^

(All on overclockers.co.uk)

I thought about the pentium route and it would drop the cost down but I gotta give my dad some bragging rights with my uncles haha its an on going fued XD

I have the bundle together through Newegg which guarantees 3 day ground. The sales end the 19th anyways so Ill be ordering sometime this week. Worst comes to worst there warehouse in NJ 2 states over the drive isn't bad. The whole thing ends up being 240pounds.

On the AMD both sockets types AM3 and 1156 are going out next year. I'm pricing out the same build right now so Ill see.

I made a few changes to the list.

Going with an ASUS 24x burner instead and probably a samsung spin f3 500gig or WD cavi blue 500gig. I heard that the spin f3 have a weird hum to them?

I have heard from some people on quiet rigs that they hear a hum. Idk.

Plus with the i3 and an H55 board the i3 has integrated hd video built in so no need to gpu.
