Pioneer kill production of plasma panels

seems stupid, if you can make summet yourself, why buy from someone else, who might ....degrade...the products you buy, so that you go out of business

especially a rival

...not a good idea

But if it helps them in the long run, after the initial 19 billion hit they mention, then its good business sense.

Reading the bottom of the article, it mentions that last year they struck a deal with Sharp for their LCDs... I'm guessing that means they don't actually make and flat panel screens for themselves now?

still

if you make them for yourself

you can be assured of quality

if someone else makes somthing for you

the same guarentee isnt there...

seems like bad business sense to me

Outsourcing makes a lot of sense though. They won't have done this unless they know they can get the job done cheaper this way.

They'll doubtless have a contract with thier supply to produce the units to a proper specification, the company they're paying to make the stuff for them won't make units crap, the people who are making them are a buisness and need customers too. Like power supplies and memory, brands don't make thier own units (corsair and seasonic) and chips on sticks (micron).

Supposedly they produced the first ever 4 CD changer. Good luck to 'em.

didnt know that, i thought sony still made their own.

a are a good company though, after all they do Panasonic and Technics so they are no fly by night cowboys

EDIT:lol at the filter

WOW Pioneer made the best Plasma on the market, huh what a shame but then again plasma is going down hill now that LCD tech is improving and not to mention that LaserTV and OLED will be hitting the seen so I guess Pioneer might have had its reasons but still its certainly something...

not at all, it makes prefect sense outsourcing. In the long run it will prob work out loads cheaper.

The quality assurance can`t be as good. It will be initially, but it`ll go down once they have you over a barrel.

I mean we all know Samsung run sandpaper over the screens they make for supply to others :p lol
