Phone OCing

Im being serious!!!

Is there a way i can OC my phone? Warranty is not a problem because A i dont have any and B i dont have phone insurance.

I have a Verizon Motorola RazR V3m

I highly doubt it. Phones work very differently to computers. Even if it were possible, I expect some horrible circuit mods would ensue. I have a blackberry which runs on its own OS, I can install Opera on it etc, and do all sorts of pc-like things... yet I have yet to see anything hinting at OCing possibilities.

Well this thing is extremely slow for being a sorta "new" phone in technology. My moms 10$ piece of crap runs faster than mine. I mean it takes forever to load pictures wheras my dads phone can load the same pictures 10x faster.

If i cant OC then is there any way of speeding it up some how? I have NOTHING but neccecity stuff on the phones onboard memory. Everything else is on a 1gig card.

If you can overclock a router, then I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss overclocking a phone.

In fact, I swear there was an app to OC my Sony P1i

You can overclock any phone, but only if there is an app about that supports the processor, which is unlikely, there is only overclocking support for a select few processors used is PDA phones, which are pretty easy to do, so it's unlikely that there is anything about for "normal" phones.

You would likely run into serious heat problems as well, it's pretty common for overclcoked phones to get so hot you can't hold them after a bit of use.

wahhhh!... you can overclock a router!? link links links

This bit of use are we saying talking on the phone? Cause all i do is text. Sometimes when i absolutely need to ill talk on the phone but its very brief and to the point. My phone stays very cool when im texting even while on the charger so OCing it to make things come up faster and my pics load quicker would be very nice.

my Linksys is sitting at 225mhz from 200 stock ;)

Required the extra cooling from a VGA cooler and the fan IS powerd now. Old pic.

PP - you going for phase or watercooling?
Rofl, im gonna mount a triple phase onto my RazR and be teh ub3r l337 g33k with the ub3rr phone. :p

On select routers you can download a very popular 3rd party firmware called DD-WRT and inside of it has options to overclock, increase transmit power ect. I can even tell it what antenna i want to transmit and recieve from.

I tried overclocking my WRT54GS and it didn't really perform or run any different :( so I put it back to stock speeds.

Could be interesting if you could overclock a phone.

It should be possible on some phones, esp PDA ones as you can overclock some PDA's (I have a axim x50v and there are ways of overclocking) altho obviously it is limited due to heat output & power usage. Most PDAs use speedstepping type technology to step the clock speeds anyway.

I'd say it's possible, whether it's wise is another matter ;)

Its very much possible. I went looking and you can basicaly overclock any smart phone or PDA type phone. And actualy, there are overclocking tools that actualy help the battery life while making it faster. I also found a bunch of software modding programs for my phone as well as Motorola Phone Tools finally works now!

wow that is crazy lool... overclocking a router have u noticed any difference?

so u finally found some software to overclock your phone then or...?

I do network intensive things so yes i see a difference. If your an average user that uses a router for interent then OCing really isnt for you.

No i didnt find software to OC my particular phone but i found other things. The problem is this though the warning in the guide i was using to put a new skin on it was at the very bottom. The warning was saying you couldnt put the new skin on Verizon Razrs. Soo uh, my phone is a pink brick right now. Gonna cost me over 200 bucks to fix it :( That will teach me not to screw with things rofl

hahha arr u been unlucky with that phone

Yea i shouldnt have messed with serious programming like that. I wasnt thinking about how Verizon phones dont use a sim card or else this woulda worked. I love Verizons service but damn with some of the things they do they can really screw you over phone wise :/ Im just gonna see about purchasing a brand new phone period. Im tired of this piece of

Key to oc`ing something that u don`t have an obvious bios rout in which to do it, is to find the piece of circuit that is generating the hz (obviously).

All mobiles phones have a bios of sorts generally u need a piece of kit to get into it - fortunately u seem to have one of the most hacked phones out there - so I fancy ur chances. More so with the razor tbh. There was a bunch of underground documents, utils and hack guides for that model I believe.

If u do any torrent searching, lookup "BSOD guide", there were maybe 8 of them, a bunch of freaky looking nerd types (if u r one I believe ur allowed to call people that). They did stuff with phones, nintendos, pcs. (b4 a mod jumps in, it`s all pretty harmless stuff to an extent, rather old, and I`m not linking) kind of people who spawned putting nintendo controllers on pcs and usb port stuff for other platforms.

It is possible, u will 99% screw the thing on ur first attempt. Hey we oc`d Amiga by replacing parts on the mobo, so it`s always possible.

Well i already screwed the thing over because Verizon dosent have a sim card and it will cost me over 200 bucks to replace it. Sooo im not going to be doing anything to the new one :(

Lol read the thread mate. I bricked my phone when i tried installing a skin in it. Waitng on the replacement now. And really, its not pointless because my phone can get real slow at times. If i OC it, theres a slight chance it would go faster.
