Phanteks announce their new Enthoo Elite chassis

I'm a big... 'phan' of Phanteks so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I want to see them make a truly exotic chassis that isn't as mechanically niche as the H-Frame or as boring as a Case Labs STH10.

The problem as I see it is that this case looks far too similar to ones they sell for £100.

I'm a big fan of boutique PCs but this doesn't look like one of them.

Yup. I sure wouldn't mind a nice alternative, but this isn't it. This is overpriced as hell, and nowhere near CL level.

What are you basing this on?

And Case Labs cases look boring yet people still happily fork £600-1000 for one. Two years ago if I had £400 to put to a case, I'd definitely look into Case Labs. But everyone and their grandma's dog has built the same system into a Case Labs case now. They're blank canvasses that people seem to just... build high-end systems in that all look pretty much the same. Boring.

Nothing, I just wanted to bash them for the outrageous price. :D

Actually, now that I just watched the Hardware Canucks preview of this thing, I may eat my previous words. I still hate the price, but I didn't realize how many rads you can stuff into this thing. And the quality does look top notch. I love my CL M8, but I also agree with you that it's a boring black box. This thing offers much better aesthetics, rad overkill from hell, and outstanding build quality. If they dropped the price, I might consider it.

Ooohh... I didn't see the video yet. I must go look see!

Caselabs are expensive to manufacture. Aluminium is not cheap and the whole ethos of Caselabs is quality.

I would have no problem with this case, apart from the fact it looks exactly like their other cases and costs seven times as much.

And yeah I think Caselabs look boring but I also appreciate build quality. And I can really see it with Caselabs. This just looks like they took one of their existing cases and took out loads of rivets and replaced them with bolt in panels.

Will wait for proper photos, but they are already having trouble convincing me.

I just watched the Hardware Canucks video and I'm completely convinced. I would without a doubt consider the Elite if I had the money. The fact that it's new is definitely at play here, but I also think it fills in a wasted opportunity many high-end cases miss out on: bottom-mounted radiators.

AlienALX: this is apparently made from nicely bent aluminum. That video above has me sold, except on the price. But if that comes down, I'd be interested in building my next system in it.

I can understand why they consider it a reasonable price but there is nothing really new it's just a fancy 900D to an extent

The 900D was rather poorly made. From the look of it, this Phanteks case is way beyond a 900D in every way.

Yes the 900D was bad but does anyone remember the Antec 1900 was the worst case ever made.

Antec try to rip off Corsair and they did an awful job off it.

Seems like to me that some people forget about stuff like this.

This is InWin territory here.... cases that no one actually buys but are mostly sponsored builds.

I would love to have it and deck it out with radiators, but for that then the Enthoo Primo would work well.

Price is just for laughs. Sponsored builds only for sure + 5960x Asus Rampage Extreme + Titan XP sli etc.

IF I had the money then I would buy just to have the most extreme build possible.

Yeah, this could be true as well. It could be more of a concept chassis designed for showpieces. The Enthoo Primo is still one of the best water cooling cases available, especially for the price.

And the 900D was cr*p.

Nothing compares to CaseLabs.....No one.

This is true! :p

I will say, however, from a enthusiast point of view, that I really like Phanteks designs. To me, they're the best mass-produced manufacturer out there right now, and every case they've released has had some really impressive features and a styling of their own to set themselves apart. They seem to have found their niche.

Now if only you guys could come up with nice looking cases, we'd have better options. :D I love my Magnum M8, and it has more cooling capacity than anyone could ever need, but it's a plain jane black box. Make something pretty quick, before Trump destroys NAFTA!! :D

Phanteks really nailed the design aspect on a lot of their cases, and they're pretty enough that I would actually consider the Elite if the price wasn't retarded. Of course, that being said, I'd probably get bored within a year or 2 and want something different. Marketing becomes impossible for picky sh!ts like me. :D

I think a lot of the aesthetics will change with Gemini. Unfortunately, I don't see prices dropping if this 20% tax on imports goes through. The price of metals will probably go through the roof. We'll see what happens...
