As the title suggests, myself and Persivore are finally able to get together for our first "proper" benching session. Persivore (for those that don't know) is a bit of an electronics whizz, and Xtremesystems resident vmod mod/guru. He's built himself a bit of a reputation as a vmod whizzkid and for those that have seen his work its certainly jusfiied.
So, what's the plan? Well we've got 20 kilo's of Dry Ice on order, and some hardware which needs to be frozen
Temperature wise, we should see ~ -78 deg, should translate into some pretty cold CPU/GPU temps all being well
We've got a set (well we will have if the GPU tube actually makes it back in time) of Chilly1 Dry Ice/LN2 tubes for the session. They're brazed tubes so don't quite have the performance of solid's but should be plenty for our needs.
Also have a Prommy Mach1 here, with a Chilly head should it be required for GPU/CPU (or other) cooling.
We've got a fair bit of hardware to play with, not all of it will be frozen but we'll do as much as we can over the weekend.
So, what's lined up? Well...
2 * LS28 Conroe E6600. (both chips have run to ~ 4ghz on watercooling)
1 * Celly 326
1* T2600 ES "Yonah"
Various GFX cards (6800LE, GF 4's, possibly 7900GT + X1800XT if we get time)
Asus P5B vanilla (awaiting mods)
AOpen a-YDG
and 4 gigs of Gskill HZ.
Main aim's are probably going to be 2d benching, (pi's etc) and since neither of us have dabbled with Dry Ice before it'll be a learning experience for us both!
Should be a good fun few days, will try and get some pics sorted once things take shape! Fingers crossed we don't loose any hardware either.
