Pentium EE beaten by cheaper D?

Take a look at this: http://www.legitreviews.com/article.php?aid=188

All the tests in which they disabled HyperThreading on the Pentium Extreme Edition are showing a performance boost over HyperThreading enabled.

What this means is that the Pentium D 840 which is significantly cheaper than the Extreme Edition is going to perform better!

WTF does Intel think they are doing? The only difference between the D and the EE is HyperThreading

Intel should call the HyperThreading CPUs 'Pentium D' and the non-HyperThreading CPUs the 'Extreme Edition'

Really, it's a great idea. intel is gonna release another P4 called F which will be cheaper than D and perform better. people are gonna see a trend with cheap intels and instead of buying a cheap amd64 theyll get a intel. then intel will jack up and the prices and nuke amd and monopolize cpus like hte old days.

serious mm i havent heard about this yet... but in the end amd always gets the last laugh

Not until recently :) However I don't see AMD ever "losing" the power struggle again... If Intel managers at some point in time to make a better / more powerful processor than AMD offers, AMD will shoot back with the pwn4ge :D
