pdgessler's 1090T build

So this is my new build, started putting everything together but still waiting on a few parts:

CPU: AMD 1090T BE

COOLER: Noctua NH-D14

MOBO: Asus M4A89TD PRO/USB3

RAM: 4x4GB DDR3-1066 G.Skill Ripjaws (I'll have to see how this works out OC'ing -- I need all the RAM at some times to run some numerical simulations, but may need to cut the capacity back for a good overclock)

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950 2GB

Boot: Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB

Programs: WD Velociraptor 300GB

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

PSU: SeaSonic 620W 80+ GOLD

CASE: Antec 300

The GPU, SSD, and cooler are not delivered yet -- patiently waiting for them to arrive!

I had the Velociraptor, 1TB storage drive, PSU, and case from a previous build, so it is somewhat hodge-podge, but I don't expect to be disappointed with the performance!

I'll be running Win7 Pro x64 and possibly a variant of Linux on another drive for some heavy-duty coding at times.

Let me know what you think or any tips that you have -- I'm hoping to push this system to over 4GHz but I expect the RAM to limit me somewhat. We shall see. I'll post pictures soon!

the nh-d14 fits in atx cases but only if all side fans are removed. i might get an se-12 for my hades coz i don't wanna remove the fan and grill my gfx cards.

yes I have heard that the NH-D14 will fit with no problems. I'm thinking that my side fan is low enough to stay out of the way but we'll have to see when it arrives (hopefully today

My mega shadow can only fit in my 902 if I mod the fan on the side panel (cutting off a corner)

The D14 is huge. I cannot imagine it fitting with the fan on the side panel. If it does, the 3oo's design if different from the 902's.

UPDATE -

Everything arrived and has been built, I'm very impressed so far. For anyone wondering, the mammoth Noctua NH D14 fits into my Antec 300 without having to remove the side exhaust fan. That said, I am very pleased with the Noctua. I currently have the 1090T clocked at 3.75 GHz (1.32 V, 234 MHz x 16.0) and have run ~5 hours of Prime95 and 1 hour of OCCT -- haven't seen a temp above 50 C yet. More pics coming soon, also I should be at 4 GHz (possibly beyond) soon.

Random question, since I'm relatively unfamiliar with AMD/ATI GPUs -- I have been unable to extend or duplicate my desktop between a HDMI-connected display (Vizio TV) and a DVI-connected display (ASUS LCD). Is this a limitation or is there a setting I need to change somewhere?

Thanks,

PG

Nice Rig have no idea why u cant get dual monitor set up going though

those black fans look a bit taccy btw

grab some noctua ones when you can add some colour to your case

! although im sure the NH-D14 is adding enough haha!

4.01 GHz achieved:

Currently prime95ing and temps are hovering around 48-49C (19-20C Ambient)

Now I just need to get the memory caught up with the cpu, which I have very limited experience with -- any tips on this?
