PCIe3.0 GPU in PCIe2.0 Mobo

Hey guys,
So I'm currently running an Asus Maximus IV Extreme 1155 P67, which only supports PCI 2.0x16. Have a 2600k@4.2 with 8gb Mushkin RAM.

I will soon be getting a MSI GTX 780 Gaming and wondered what sort or performance hit (if any) I would get if I don't upgrade my mobo to a PCIe3.0?

Maybe 2-3 fps tops or, like you said, nothing at all.

Don't go thinking that it would be a massive performance decrease. Not even worth the money of upgrading imo.

I'm running GTX660 in a PCI-e 2 slot (grr) The main reaosn for me upgrading soon.

running 7970's in xfire on a z68 platform you wont tell a difference from 2.0 to 3.0

won't be any difference at all,unless you are going to run dual gpu cards

Even with dual GPUs, you'll struggle to see 1-2fps difference

Nope, only going to run 1 GPU with a 1920x1200 monitor so I guess I needn't worry

The performance difference is that low really, from what I saw to the point that I didn't even bother to run the Sandy Bridge E patch to get PCI-E 3.0 working on my system, when I reinstalled windows.
