Hi just wondering if anybody has got a answer or can help i know that pci express 2.0 doubles the data transfer from 250mbs to 500mbs is there any point in having a board with 2.0 for a single card i can appreciate it will prob help in sli or a crossfire set up but for a single card it aint gonna make a difference am i wright or wrong

cheers for any help

I guess the best wat to answer this is basically to say it negates the bottleneck between the cpu and gpu when running more higher end chipsets, cpu's and gpu's. Not saying extreme but say like from older tech to newer tech.

for example:

AMD 939 3200+ cpu and x800 were fine together but you wouldn't want to run that same card on a Phenom II system as it would bottleneck the cpu and reverse the setup using an 4870 gpu on an AMD939 motherboard the cpu would bottleneck the gpu

in a nutshell 2.0 and 2.1 are being better utilized by the gpu these days so yes either single or dual cards will see a benefit from a 2.0 or higher bandwidth

hope this helped
