Hi guys,

i want to ask something. After seeing all these images of the 2011 motherboards over the past week, i have started saving up for my next build based on the 2011 socket.

I see that they are going to support PCI-E 3.0.

i wanted to get 2 x GTX 580s for SLI gaming but now i heard about PCI-E3.0, should i still buy the GTX 580's or wait for graphics cards based on PCI-E 3.0?

By the way, this build is going to be a fresh one, new parts only

I am not sure a lot of boards split the PCI-E 2 lane's to get SLI or xfire compatibility and get x8/x8 SLI now card can max this out but shouldn't make out the speed of a PCI-E 3.0 lane even when its halved.

I don't think you will need to worry about the speed of the cards maxing out PCI-E 2.0 I would worry more about the board.

Try find out when the next series of video cards are due I believe this may not be so far away but I haven't heard any thing yet if they aren't so far away just wait for those 6xx cards of 7xxx AMD cards.

Has any one heard any thing about new GPU's yet? its been a while.

Ive been reading up and apparently the gtx 6xx series codename:kelper should be out q4 2011 so i would assume that they will be coming out about the same time as lga2011

hi. You have an excellent motherboard so if the 5770 is hanging your pleasure i think do a small upgrade, Xfire if it's possible with your card or get a cheap used 5870. Wait for Keplar, GTX 680. The Keplar is a newer architecture and looks like 2.5 x better than Fermi. It might be released this year. The 580 isn't much faster than the 480 (1st Fermi card) in games, and is less great when SLI'd as todays games aren't needing all the power. Keplar's gona be set for a long time as developers will be milking tesselation, ray tracing etc for Keplar. Crysis 1 has been updated recently and is now fine with 2 480's with a small OC.

The glitchy non-optimised areas of games are very rare and that shouldn't make the impression to need more power as it's silly stupid.

So in reading this I wouldnt bother getting 2x 580's or wait till they are in the clearance bin pick up 580 SLI for cheap

about two months ago i did upgrade to a 5870. You and FunkyMonkey90 did mention the GTX 600 series is maybe due this year so i think i'll wait and mostly go Xsfire.
